Yes, we went last year. We had the best time ever. Go on the boat trips to the volcano, and the sunset tours.
The wine tasting is very good and the Greek party is just brilliant.
If you are staying in Perissa, be sure to go to the Volcano restaurant on the sea front, the food and service is brilliant.
Have a great time.

Hi, have been to Santorini 3 times now and can't get enough of it. It is a very beautiful island with truly breathtaking views over the Caldera (or cauldron) to the dormant volcano.
Resorts vary, my favourite is Perissa which is a great beach resort with just the right amount of bars, restaurants etc. The livelier resort of Kamari is only a short taxi ride, (or water taxi during the day) away.
The bus service in Santorini is excellent and inexpensive and a very good way to see the island. The towns of Oia and Fira are well worth a visit, especially at dusk for the fantastic sunsets.
A good trip to book is the sunset cruise where you take a sailing boat out into the Caldera, have drinks, snacks and a buffet onboard while the sun sets, definitely a time to get the camera out.

There are trips from Santorini to the neighbouring islands of Ios and Crete.

Hope this helps and hope that you book up, it really is a fantastic island.

Yes. Santorini is every bit as beautiful as it looks, but it is also very very small - it takes about 1 hour by car to cover the whole island. When I visited, we only went for a couple of days and to be honest, I thought that was plenty - I think you could get very bored there if you went for 2 weeks - unless you literally want to lie by the pool all day. Also, be aware that there are lots of volcanic beaches in Santorini, so the sand isn't great either. Personally, I'd rather stay somewhere else and just pay a short visit to Santorini, rather than stay on the island itself.

Santorini is magnificent, but the town Fira is very crowded and packed with tourism and bars, restaurants etc. The town Oia on the other hand is amazing, so don't miss it. In addition, do go to the ancient town of Acrotiri, preserved under the volcano ashes (it is supposed to be lost Atlantis). You can go horse riding by the sea somewhere near Mesa Gonia (you'll see signs or ask). In Mesa Gonia you can also visit the byzantine church of Episkopi (at least 1000 years old). You can visit the volcano on a boat trip, and swim in the hot sulfuric water. Kamari and Perissa are beautiful beaches with black sand from the volcano, and there are other beaches too like the red beach or white beach, depending on the volcanic sand colour. The beaches in Santorini are not the best, but they are interesting in terms of colours. Also, you can go to Imerovigli for a magnificent view of the caldera and the sunset.

Yes, and it's great! I suggest you stay at Imerovigli, which might be a bit far from the nice beaches(about 5-10 min by car), but it has extremely beautiful views. You can also stay at Oia, which is also great and closer to the nightclubs etc..
Just to let you know, if ur going before July or after August, it won't be very festive clubbing-wise, but Santorini is such a beautiful island that it's worth going even if all the clubs stayed closed! Find a hotel with a nice view, that's the most important thing, especially if you go with your significant other.

I will only add that you also have to make a walk at Ia (very known for the sunset, although I believe the sunset is everywhere the same), the "caldera" at Fyra and Megalohori (one of the few traditional villages in Santorini). Beautiful!
If you are in love, better for you. If you are not, you have to be prepared!
I agree that the beaches are not great, due to the volcano!

I loved Santorini - that's a eye-catching island on a cliff properly (stated as a caldera). expenditures are life like compared to something of Europe. i did not do a lot contained in the way of nightlife there - it become more beneficial of a quiet vacation for me. To be straightforward i imagine 20-25 days there is plenty - you may opt to guage travelling a number of the different islands contained in the Cyclades besides. you may also visit Mykonos, Paros, Naxos and so on. The ferry provider around the Greek islands is fantastic and also you'll get diverse reports on each and every island.

I was there for 3 nights in Aug. 2006. I loved every minute of it. Oia is not to be missed. Grab a spot on a rooftop restaurant for the sunset. Absolutely wonderful. Another great place to watch the sunset is the winery south of the main port.
We also took the donkey ride down the cliffs. My son still talks about this :)
I believe Akrotiri is still closed to tourists, but check before you go. Very easy and worthwhile to rent a car and drive around to see the entire island.
I didn't care for the beaches, but there is still plenty to see and do. All in all a very beautiful island with very friendly people. Very relaxing.

It's awesome. The best part is walking the streets at sunset and eating in the cliffs and watching the sunset over the water. It's absolutely b-e-a-utiful.
