It's my native home and I absolutely love it. I live in Texas now, which is the ONLY state greater than Louisiana. However, I miss the accessibility to the best shrimp, as well as crawfish and gumbo. The people are still friendly, the culture is unique from any other in the world, the beauty of the swamps is mystic and intriguing, and I even think New Orleans is a great city (but a horribly abused one at that, even long before Katrina.)

What do you think? Thanks!

I was born in Lafayette, but have lived most of my life in Texas. I LOVE Louisiana. It's different from anywhere else in the country. The music, the food, the people, the culture, I love that a place so unique is my heritage. My mother was a fantastic cajun cook so I could always count on great red beans and rice on Mondays and gumbo when it rained but she passed away in '05 so now I don't even have that. BUT I have a newborn son and I can't wait until he's old enough for me to teach him about crawfish, and zydeco, and gators, and swamps, and etoufee, and so much more.....

I am a Louisiana native, just moved to Texas last year also. You are correct, I miss the food so much. Anyone that even tries to cook the food can't even get close to what we are used to. That is my only complaint about Texas. The food!!

I was born with the middle name "Louise." My Dad convinced me
Louisiana state was mine when showing it to me on a World Atlas.
I grew up with a deep desire to see it someday while learning of
how Spanish moss hangs long on the trees, historical mansions,
Lake Ponchatrain you can drive over, cemeteries above ground,
dining on finger lickin' seafood on Bourbon Street & Royale.
It was a dream I carried long and almost forgotten.

I shared this childhood dream with a man, then was asked to
marry. Church plans in CA were red taped. We were going to
fly (my 1st time) to unite with his daughters in Louisiana for a
two week vacation from work. 48 hours before leaving, I was
asked if I'd like to marry there. Unsure, how to take a white
wedding dress on a plane, I happily said the dress can stay,
I'll Go! Cinderella got her wish! I now know how tree frogs lull
you to sleep, Spiders with big hand size bodies & 2' long legs
grace the wooden paths of Lafeyette Park. The Gays went
berzerk at us walking, his arm around me and stopping to kiss,
viewing us from the wrought iron balcony after dining. When
explained to me, why the men were so bothered by us, I yelled,
"Come down here and I'll kiss you, too!" lol for us!
I took great drip dry as you wear non-wrinkly clothes for lovely
warm rains throughout the days. I returned 4 times again.
Mardi Gra I did not see, but 2 girls gave me all the beads I want.

Mike Douglas was the governor of Louisiana, one time.
Then the Revenue Department moved in on a moonshiner
named Gator McCluskey, and the rest is history, on DVD.

I'd like to go down there, just to see the swamp.

There have been reports of seeing the Florida panther
in Louisiana.

I love Louisiana for all its charm, warmth, culture and food. I no longer live there because of the storm.
I miss the people the most.

I live in Louisiana, politically, it's stupid. But still, I can't imagine living anywhere else. There's stuff here you can't find in other states, or if you can, it's just a cheap imitation. It isn't all pretty, but it's my home :)
