i'm an 8th grader this year, the high school cheerleading tryouts are going on right now, but i'm preparing to try out after 9th grade. can you try out after 9th grade? what squad would you be on (junior varsity, sophomore, varsity...). and what basic skills do you need to make the squad?
if anyone answering is a cheerleader, could you please tell me what you or the head cheerleader looks for during tryouts?
thankyou so much! :]

you can try-out at any point in high school (meaning whenever they have try-outs). If you do not have much experience you are more likely to be put on JV.
Cheerleading takes time and dedication. You have to be able to stunt, jump, yell(cheer), be spirited, and (depending on your school) tumble.Your motions need to be sharp, toes pointed during your jumps, you need to be loud, and you need to look like you're having fun.
Talk to girls (or guys) that you know that are cheerleaders at your school, to find out what you need to be able to do for try-outs. And even get together with that person or people so that they can help you out.
Even though you are not trying out for a year you should still be preparing yourself. Stretch, stretch, stretch!! As well, as stretching practice your motions in front of a mirror and your jumps. Also make sure you smile and that your motions are sharp!

Hate to mention but when your dad may not aid you, I wish that your mother will. I am a center university cheerleading train and cheerleading isn't low priced. Of path center schoolers would not have jobs to pay for camp, uniforms, and so forth. and even though you would get a role, you wouldn't have time to paintings and pass to after university practices, conferences, and video games.... and do not forget assignments. You will want anybody to support you pay the bills. Is your cheerleading squad conventional or recreation? A conventional squad is the squad that does the pep rally, cheers at video games from the sidelines, and might do a part time efficiency. A recreation squad is a squad that travels across the country competing. Most of the game squads are co-ed, incredibly informed, particularly complex stunts, killer flips, you get the factor. Its just like the Bring it On Squads. If your university has a conventional squad, all you have got to do is have a few style of rhythm and get a former cheerleader or person who has already made the squad to coach you. You would pass to a UCA camp. They will coach you the fundamentals of cheerleading. I believe this would be the great choice. If your squad is a recreation squad, your probabilities of constructing the squad are very narrow except you've got had years of gymnastics. Whatever occurs, I desire you the great of good fortune. Keep making an attempt and paintings rough. Remember Cheerleading is rough paintings, if it used to be any simpler, it might be referred to as Football!

ya im a freshman varsity cheerleader
okay....so at the end of ur 8th grade year u would usually try out now....to be on the team as a freshman
but since u want to wait, u should tryout at the end of ur freshman year. that way you'll be on the squad for sophmore year...and yes its okay!
for your first year, you'll probably be on JV unless you have outstanding tumbling (i've never heard of sophmore team)
what you need: obviously you need to have a basic cartwheel. you also should be able to do a simple roundoff. technically you dont need anything else but you should work on getting your splits down, work on your backhandspring, and basic jumps! to do these if youre unfamiliar, you can go to a gym and set up a private or go to open gym. at open gym theres gonna be tons of cheerleaders u can ask for help if u need it!!!
GOOD LUCK!

If they are trying out now, odds are it is for football cheer so they know who to take to camp. Most schools have a separate tryout for basketball around November. To know for certain when to try out and and what the requirements are, ask the coach at the school.
I always look for skills and potential to develop better skills, enthusiasm, a good work ethic. People I do not want on my team: whiners, divas, meanies...
Here is some information about cheerleading in general which will help you develop your skills: http://geocities.com/aescougarcheer/basics.htm
Good luck!

well... you can be able to tryout after 9th grade because they should hold tryouts every year. 4 skillz u should see what the other girls on the team have and see if u can get some of those skillz or u could as a coach!
