Are you sick of the politicians trying to polarize America to be either a Democrat or a Republican? How about voting for what you know is right?

An American need not be a Democrat or a Republican in order to be a good citizen. Vote for what you believe is best.

VOTE for your choice as US President on my 360 degrees blog and know whom you will vote.

Wow, Mark. Sorry not trying to be rude, honestly, but if that is your logic, then you can't vote for social liberals, akin to socialists, because the Nazi's were socialists.

Anyway, one good thing about party affiliation is voting in primaries which can mean a candidate will more closely match your position in the general election. However, I agree the two party system causes polarizing votes, and blind support of one party or the other, to preserve political party power in Congress or White House. Always vote your conscience, whether it is Dem or Rep. And hopefully you have more choices like Independent or Libertarian. I guess my suggestion is to join a party if you feel like voting in primaries so that can have more say in a party that most represents your views. Then in the general election you can still vote for which candidate that you think is best.

No you do not. As a matter of fact, I firmly believe that we should have heeded the warnings of George Washington and avoided the pitfalls of a two party system. There are other parties out there, some with good ideas, but we have settled on these two parties, so much so that very few people will even give the others a chance. I have heard newscasters make fun of third party candidates who they say have "lackluster" campaigns. These candidates are out there using ideas and debates to get some attention, and all the newscasters can comment on is "lackluster" campaigns. I guess that means no TV commercials, no balloons, no ads in newspapers and magazines, and no high contributers to their campaigns. Oh my, does that mean that there may be no one to suck up to once in office? God forbid. Another party would eliminate all this tit for tat politics and law-making that has been going on in Washington. If anyone would like to see what a few of these parties are all about there is a list of websites on my website.

Our politics are rapped up in economics. The two sides are like two huge corporations constantly battling each other for power. Both sides controlled by an agenda and special interest and money. Until we break this cycle of politics that controls our government it will be hard to always do whats right.

It seems to me it's always ignorant, uninformed people who ask this question. They are the people who don't realize what it means to be Republican or Democrat--VERY different things. The answer is because one party is currently a party of hate that works for big business and Christian fundamentalist nuts, while the other party supports civil rights and the underprivileged. Certainly there is corruption on both sides, but ask yourself this: Which party is a KKK member 99% of the time more likely to be a member of? Answer: Republican

I agree, I think its a phony paradigm. They are both collectivists meaning they want to take away individual rights for the collective good of the whole. This creates a government that seeks to give us everything we want, but if it can do that, it can take everything we have. Eventually if everyone wants to strip the rights of others for their own security and benefit, It will backfire and no one will have any rights. The big Govt. loves it when you think like that.<-to vote against liberty.

I do. I'm a conservative, but not necessarily a Republican.

To quote a friend, "Libertarians rock!"

Mark - have any legit sources to back up your vile allegations? BOTH parties are full of crap and don't care about the people. If you can't see that, you're in for one hell of a rude awakening. You post is an excellent example of leftist hypocrisy - you're guilty of bias and prejudice. And if you can't back it up, you are most certainly guilty of ignorance.

Be careful when you point fingers at others....you have three fingers pointing back at yourself.

It became apparent to me to avoid the "Democrat-Republican" label because of Bill Clinton

Calling himself a Democrat, Bill Clinton completed RonOld RayGun's agenda...the assault on the safety net, the middle class and poor.

Democrats were out there supporting a Republican agenda because they stood with "Democrat" Bill Clinton

Republicans were hating the Democrat completing their agenda because he didn't call himself a "Republican"

It's got to be the issues today...because the Democratic Party keeps running Republicans for office

and the poor Republicans......supporting fascists because they use the label "Republican"

you know, i greatly appreciate your sentiments and wish we could operate upon just that basis alone.

but then, i see everything the democrats are doing to promote anti-americanism and it just seems to me to be a constant theme among them. their entire platform always centers around being unhappy or, pointing out why we should all be unhappy. i can understand and appreciate productive criticism. however, criticism can never be productive unless it also, provides solutions, which i rarely ever see them doing. so, i see the party as a whole no differently than i would a person with a similar attitude and i just get sick to my stomach. why should we ever surrender control to such a narcissistic, non-productive and self-centered group of people?

Its an unfortunate product of the two-party system. I know of almost no one that fits either party perfectly, yet they remain our only viable choices..
