the NBA finals again. I mean, it must be really hard to deal with two tragic endings to your season in a row. First, they were beating the Miami Heat 3-0 when all of a sudden strange things started happening. Then this year they were looking strong with the best record, only to lose in the first round to the 8th seed. I feel sorry for the Mavs. I really love that team. Dirk Nowitzki is awesome when he's on fire, but apparently he needs to work on his ability to play under lots of pressure and tough defense. Anyway, what do you guys think?

There are many reasons they lost, but this is not unprecedented in NBA history. Isaiah Thomas was made a fool of multiple times by Larry Bird & he went on to lead a team to championships while making a fool of Michael Jordan who went on to make fools of everybody while going on to win championships--and so on. I'm sure there are other examples but I hope you get the picture.

It all boils down to Dirk: if he can step it up a notch or two then he can make a triumphant return to the finals and take it all. If not then, well, he could be in worse company: Karl Malone, John Stockton, Charles Barkley, etc. All great players that just couldn't win it all for one reason or another.

I doubt it now. Teams won't take them seriously anymore. It no longer matters if Dallas is a 1, 2, 3, or 4 seed in the playoffs. Any team will step up and look them right in the eyes like Golden State did and next year Dallas might lose in the 2nd round. They got what they deserved and they'll always be known as the most hyped regular season team ever to get bounced out of the 1st round. I'll bet they feel really stupid for resting their starters against the Warriors in the last week of the season when they won in Dallas and needed every win after that to make the playoffs after the Clippers lost their last game.

I don't believe that the Mavericks can go the distance with its current core of players. The coaching staff can only do so much as far as putting every player in the best possible position to succeed, but obviously the players as a collective unit for Dallas have to play with more heart and inspiration as they are the ones who truly decide on how far to go.

Dirk didn't get enough help against the Warriors and he didn't play up to his own standards either. They really need a point guard who thinks pass-first and they also need a low-post presence who can score from the center position. Their roster is deep, but it lacks diversity because many of the players that are on the roster now do alot of the same things.
The Mavericks best chance to win it all was last year and they let a precious opportunity pass them by.

That being said, the Mavericks obviously will remain competitive for many years to come and long as Cuban doesn't get fed up and shockingly decide to sell the team. That could happen due to his volatile nature and his disdain for David Stern.

First off, not to upset but they were up only 2-0 last year in the finals, but to answer your question; yes they will reach!! Mark Cuban will realize that he does not have a true point gaurd , and has enough money to go out and get one. Their team is great and has nothing to do with Dirk under performing in the last two playoff series. Many of you will say they had their (PG) with Steve Nash, but maybe he did not fit their system.
Once they find a point guard; the Mav's will win not just 1 title but, possibly more.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, The problem isn't a matter of recovering but more one of not having players who have that killer instinct you need to win big playoff games. Winning the most games in the regular season doesn't mean that much. The teams focused on a playoff run give their role players playing time during key minutes even if it costs them a few games during the regular season so they are ready when they need them.

Why not? They've got the ingredients to win it all.
Their weakness just needed to be more exposed. Let's see what happens if next year they are going to matchup with Golden State again?
