Oh yeah. Those were the days. Pack a cooler, bring the hibachi and grill some burgers. We never actually watched the movies, they were all bad B type movies, so we just partied and hoped to get lucky. The best were $5 car loads. It is amazing how many people you can jam into a VW bug, know what I mean. Yes, too bad they don't exist anymore. We had fun. Plus, you could smoke a scooby-snack:)
How ever, we never snuck any body in thru the trunk, we all saw that Cheech & Chong movie, probably at a drive-in.
P.S. Great place for making out, like going to the lake for submarine races:)

Yes our area had 5and the last one closed about 15 years ago, what a shame.I sure had a lot of fun there . We had one that stayed open even in the winter and it had little electric heaters that you plugged into the power outlet on the speaker pole that kept your car warm ,for those cold nights when a blanket and some good cuddling with your sweety just wasn't enough. It was a flea market in the day and a drive in at night. I hated to see it turned into a lumber yard, what a shame.

oh yeah, i have some really good memories of going to the drive inn we used to have by my house. that was a while back when i was a little girl. apparently all over the country drive inns are mostly shut down. but i wish they would bring them back! it made the movie going experience so much fun, like camping out! i liked being outdoors!

Yup! There are still a couple around where I grew up that are running. My sisters and I get together with all their kids a couple times every summer and go see something at one of them- Shrek II, the Garfield movies, the Pirates of the Caribbean movies- stuff like that.

Yes. It's generally a large empty field with posts sticking out the ground with speakers attached. At one end is a large screen and at the other end is a concession stand. You park next to one of the posts and attach the speaker to your car door or window. That's pretty much it. Locally we no longer have one though I think its time they consider bringing it back maybe with environmentally friendly theme - no cars? Don't know maybe that won't work with all the crazy things that go on.

Yes. As kids we used to go alot in the late 70's/early 80's. Then they tore it down and built a multi-plex. I miss those drive-in days.

Yes. They were a staple of my childhood. Also a great make-out place when I was 15. Now I'm old and have a big screen TV and a satellite system.

Yes, we have two in our area. We go quite often in the summer months, open the back doors of the truck, pile blankets and pillows in for the kids to lay on, bring snacks, and enjoy seeing two movies for less than they charge for one at most theaters.
