The only free country?! LOL. Whatever, because the rest of world are slaves right? You are a classic case of the often stereotyped 'ignorant American'.

It's funny that the US is so heavily criticized by people that don't live here.
But, you don't see Americans desperately trying to move to those places.
Here are some positives:
1. Most people can actually get a full time job if they want one.
2. The US has less than 11 months of winter (as compared to our northern neighbor).
3. Half the country is not a frozen uninhabitable tundra (as compared to our northern neighbor).
4. There is plenty of outdoor recreation that has "nothing" to do with ice.
5. We do have to carry our own health insurance, but the tax rate is not 57% and you can pick your own doctor and get an appointment in less than 3 months usually.
6. We have major immigration problems, with untold millions of people trying to stay here and even more trying to get here because of the above.
So, considering the alternatives, I'm keeping my butt rye-chere!

How many other countries have you lived in to intelligently compare?
I read a non-fiction short story once about a guy who thought the same kind of thing, until he moved to France. Do you think the kids in France grow up thinking, "We're number two!" Of course not. I think most people grow up thinking their country is the coolest.

I agree this is a great nation and we are the land of the free. I firmly believe it comes from our heritage and our forefathers that put forth the effort into our land from the beginning is the reason why we are what we are today......

So much cooler than what? I served my country for over ten years and I simply do not feel that our country is so much cooler. We are just as messed up as other countries. We just cannot see it because we are in it.

American cellphones are the worst though. All the good ones arent available here. Everything here is so regulated too. But its an even trade for all the safety and freedom i suppose.

We are a blending of people who came here to escape oppression and who brought the best of their cultures with them.
We value our constitutional freedoms.
Other nations should also respect the fact that America has been the best friend many small nations could ask for. We even treat our former enemies well.

Yeah, America's pretty cool. But a lot of our "better stuff" is imported from other "cool" places. But I like your American pride!
