If they thanked you for what you did for them because they did not know something important that you told them and they were eventually glad that you did, even if they argued with you about it to begin with, if they eventually told you thank you and that you were a hero to them would you appreciate that? Would that make you feel good?

It was an honor, and no I do not think of myself as a hero, but it was really nice.

Eventually if one is in the right they will win if it is for the right reason. If what they are doing is for the wrong reasons then they will usually lose in the end.

Sometimes we are right and we still lose and that is a sad thing.

A person who risks his life makes you a Hero. Your contribution for him has to be great and non -expecting . Expectation of mutuality kills the purpose of the deed. Surely , you would have done some thing great selflessly , without expecting to be thanked for it and the soldier felt gratitude . Somebody Else's gratitude is the best reward , but you must give away it down the line as some one Else's award . That 's true Hero.

If it was a sincere comment, definitely feel honoured by it, whether it was from a soldier or not.

My bar for the term hero is quite high. But everyone gets to define what is for themselves. To be considered such by anyone should be humbly and gratefully accepted.

Peace

Heros are often fools in disguise.
