should i try modeling?

Question

A couple people randomly have told me that I should, model, I think it would be fun to try. Do you think I could? Where should I start? I'm in the New England area.

I'm 18, 5'7 and 115 pounds. I have blonde hair that reaches my middle back and gray eyes. I dont know what else would be important to say

You could start by getting a port-folio going with your best poses... Invest in a good photograph if possible! Then make an appointment with the person in charge of hiring models from the major stores in your area... who always have fashion shows in malls for one reason or another, who want their new seasonal fashions promoted in private affairs after hours with their favorite clients, etc. and they might be real proud to have you on board. From there, you can find an agent who will get you to better places and who knows??? You just have to start somewhere as it will give you the basics of how to do what when the time comes for the bigger opportunities! You'll have gained a certain amount of experience which won't hurt and will give you that foot in the door of the modeling world! That's how it starts at your age! Best wishes to you! You can do it!

#1, if you have to pay for it, it's not legit. (Barbizon, John Robert Powers, etc.)
#2 When I modeled, I was 5'7 and 115 pounds and I'll tell you what they told me...go and grow an inch. Usually, they only like runway to be 5'8 at the very shortest. HOWEVER :) you can still do something called print modeling. This is more for the the girls with a smaller frame, but pretty features.
#3 Use a search engine to locate modeling agencies in bigger cities...Boston, etc. Mail them a Polaroid snap shot...no pro pics. 1 of your face up close, 1 of your profile, and 1 of your entire length. If they're interested, they'll contact you with either an invite for a personal meeting, or you can cold call an agency and ask for their next "Catty Call" date. This is when you just show up with the pics and they tell you "We love you" or "Get lost"

Know this Sweetie. Modeling can be very brutal to an ego, so please be sure that you're very confident with yourself...and take nothing personal...it's their job to be critical of you....especially when they ask your 115 pound self if it's possible for you to get rid of 5 more pounds.

New England area huh, where in New England particularly? If you happen to be in the Boston or Hartford area, I would recommend Barbizon. Barbizon is a modeling/acting school. Very good and can take you very far.

All you have to do is look them up, find the one in your area and call them for a casting/audition. You have to audition to be allowed to enroll in the school.

Here's the deal:

-if you have to pay for your pictures/tear sheets, you're getting ripped off.

Successful models never have to pay. All the other will get themselves financially bankrupt trying to get where the really beautiful girls get for free.
So, unless you're drop dead gorgeous, forget it.

yea you should go for it my friend takes modeling lessons at john robert powers.. google that name and find the nearest location near you.. but it may be really expensive..
