Locke is still with us. They would have shown him die before our eyes instead of leaving it up in the air. I think Jacob will save him. Jacob said to Locke, "Help me", which begs the question: what is Jacob seeking? I think since Locke has a special relationship to the island and to Jacob (since Jacob spoke to him and not Ben) that perhaps Locke is being called upon by Jacob for some special role on the island. Lost wouldn't be Lost without Locke.

At first I thought Locke was a goner. Probably because I was shocked by how the episode ended. However, consider these facts:
1) The episode ended with Locke still aware of his surroundings, eyes open, and speaking to Ben.
2) Anybody who has died on this show in the past has been shown to be lifeless.
3) Locke was in a damn wheelchair before he came to the island. The moment he landed on it he could walk. Locke obviously has a connection with the island that can keep him alive. Besides the fact that he got shot in the stomach and fell fifteen feet, Locke will probably come out of this situation alive.
4) It's Locke! You don't kill off a fan favorite unless you're just looking to screw your show over.

I hope not. Somehow I don't think so. He's a very integral part of the show, IMO. Ben mentioned something about 'jacob' helping him. whoTF is jacob anyway? I can't figure out if he's something real or if Ben just had some stuff set up to trick Locke into believing it. It could be that jacob has something to do w/ the voices on the island.

anyway, i digress....NO, I don't think locke is permanently gone, but we've been surprised before

Between Locke's self healing powers, and the fact that Jack will most likely find him in time he'll most likely be fine. Unlike Mr Eko last season , Locke is a key character.

It better not be! We love Locke!

He seemed to take the bullet on the lower left (amazingly missing all those important organs on the right!) ... so I'm sure they'll find some way that he survives, but it'll be interesting. (For all we know, they're already dead and this is just a way to slow him down- who knows) ... what an exciting episode!

oh gosh, I just saw the episode and I was shocked
completely shocked that Ben killed locke

but remember, he was shot around the stomach area so he may be coming back or not
Lockes fate is now being questioned
for me personally, I dont think it is permanent, but I assure you, one of the survivors will find his body and it will cause more tensions between Julia and Jack

It could go either way. But even if they didn't say some one wasn't going to make it I'd say oh some 100+ ppl getting gassed is a good elimination episode. I mean hey! Hire a bunch of extras to play dead

He is definitely not dying. He can't. He is the only one that has a connection with the island. When he came on the island he was lame, now he is perfectly alright. I don't think the island will want him to die.
I really hope this doesn't get spiritistic.

no because when someone dies on lost they show them die completely, not end the episode with them gasping. remember ben could all of a sudden walk after locke joined up with them, he will probably heal on his own or something or someone will help him.
