She is not doing very well and doctors are giving up on her cancer treatment. Many people believe she will pass away soon. I hated her in the 1980's because of the PTL scandles but loved her on "The Surreal Life."

I agree ------ We are all sinners.

I like Tammy Faye, I watched her in Surreal Life too. I think she treated everyone even Ron Jeremy as a Christian should, not judgmental. I am sad that she isn't going to make it.
May God ease her suffering and bless her.

every man, woman, boy or girl born into this word is a sinner. Tammy Faye Bakker just happens to be unfortunate to have her sins plastered all over the news in the '80s, for all of the world to judge.

I grew up in the south, and alot of people really look up to their favorite televangelist and I remember seeing the PTL club and watching Tammy Faye reading letters from little old ladies who had sent the PTL club a generous check even though the elderly ladies were on a fixed income. They desperately wanted Jim Bakker to pray for them. When I worked in the hospital as an RN in the critical care unit, these very ill elderly people, and some that weren't elderly, would insist that we let them watch their sunday church programs. We used to laugh at the amount of make up Tammy Faye would wear and every week, she would cry her eyes out and her make up would run down her face . We thought with the amount of money these people had--she always had a gawdy amount of jewelry on too---she could afford to buy some good waterproof make up, especially mascara. I remember these T-shirts that came out that had a mess of make up smushed on the front of the shirt and the slogan said, " I ran into Tammy Faye at the mall." She was kind of a joke to all of us who did not subscribe to the televangelist.
When the scandal broke about her husband having an affair with that secretary and blew a bunch of cash and the whole crash of the PTL club occured, we laughed and thought that they got what was coming to them. But after a while, Tammy Faye became almost a tragic figure and she looked sort of like a sad clown. It became a little harder to laugh at her. I even secretly hoped that she would have a happy second marriage and show that little twerp of a husband that she didn't need him.
I started to admire her when she showed quiet strength after her second husband got into some trouble and then she found out she had lung cancer. She still was over made up but now even though she had alot of tradgedy in her life, she started to laugh at herself along with everybody else even though some of us felt guilty for laughing at her. For some reason it just wasn't as funny as it used to be.
We all want what we call "bad people who border on being con artist" to get their just desserts, but sometimes it's like," OK, that's enough. I think she learned her lesson." On Surreal Life, I know that she probably did it to stay in the public eye---it's not like they have A-list stars on their----and for the money, but I think I almost felt sorry for her having to do some of the things they make you do on the show so you look foolish. She did stand her ground and removed herself from the situations that she felt were too far from her moral beliefs and I applauded her for that.
I think she has paid her dues and then some. She will always be remembered for the over made up televangelist who cried all of the time and who's mascara was always running down her face. Her husband and she got caught and she nearly lost everything while her husband went to prison.
I hope that people will say to her " We forgive you" and let her have some relief in her final days. We can tell her that she made us laugh but it was more fun laughing with her than laughing at her. And I hope she puts her make up on until her final days. I believe she will go home to the Father when she passes because she paid for her sins and she will be welcome.

Oh, there's nothing wrong with sending a little love and compassion her way, and forgive her for being a patron of Maybelline and a clueless contributor to all those poor lab rabbits that suffered and died so that her eyeliner would not streak when she cried those gonzo tears. Bless her little heart.

I think she rectified her life and atoned for things none of us really have the ultimate authority to be able to label as good or bad.

Now at 65 lbs, and saying she wishes all young people would learn to feel happy and love themsleves kind of leads me to believe there are good forces around and within her. I think she's glory bound.

I loved her on The Surreal Life also. She was great. She didn't do anything different than most TV preacher wifes do. It is all acting!
