Possibly India would still be a series of princely states with various degrees of autonomy within some sort of commonwealth arrangement. The princely states were not fully absorbed into British India until after that war.

Doubtful. INdians are a very intelligent race of people and they would have eventually formed a more workable government, perhaps not open democracy, but something more stable.
