if you deeply think about it, you'll see it's true.
Do you live life with compassion towards others?
Think about how old you are now, and how much longer you have left on earth. Why not strike up a conversation with that person you see at the bus stop every morning, standing alone? Why not smile at a stranger who walks with a sad look on his face? Why not give a person who cries by himself the cookie you were planning on having for lunch? Why not help the person who dropped his papers pick them up? What have you got to lose? Time isn't an excuse. It takes perhaps a few seconds to do these things. They won't think you're weird, they'll be happy and grateful. You'll feel better about yourself and make the other person's day. So get out there and help make the world a better place. :)

I do, but do you know what.... they aren't always happy and grateful. That person whose papers you picked up may sneer at you and walk off, that sad stranger you smile at may totally ignore you .... if you do these things you have to do them with absolutely no expectations...... because the truth of it is what while some people are compassionate and giving.... others are just takers.

I try. =) I smile at people who look at me. I met one of my friends at the beginning of the school year because I went up to him and told him he looked like he could use afriend. I always offer my last bit of food to someone. And today, in fact, I picked up a girl's purse that was sitting in the middle of the floor.
It feels good to see the smile on people's faces when you do something nice.
And, you know, my brother's ex cheated on him. I still smile at her in the hallway when she passes.

Hey, I struck up a conversation with the stranger in the store who was buying a brand of wine that I like. Does that count?

I agree with you. People need to be kinder to others, it's a harsh world and caring about others wouldn't hurt any.
