I think Okafor's very overrated. He was rookie of the year and came in the league with so much hype and expectations and suddenly his sophomore year came and he was probably one of the most forgotten players on his draft class. He has the size, the mobility, and the blocking skills to be defensive player of the year but he's showed very little improvement in that area since he's been drafted. From the way he looks he should be dominating and his name should be up there with Amare Stoudemire and Yao Ming, but he's ineffective in my opinion and sometimes even Adam Morrison overshadows him.

It's such a shame because i remember watching a special on that rookie class (which included Andre Iguodala) and those 2 were made to look so promising. Iguodala has been at least entertaining when he dunks; E. Okafor on the other hand has only some brief surges of offensive brilliance. I know my expectations are high because he's still better than most centers in the league, but he's had no recognition and he can't blame it on the fact that he's on a very bad team because this is the situation where he should be shining among his peers. I , for one, expect at least a few headlines from him next season; if not, i might eventually consider him a draft bust.

No. He really hasnt had a chance to show what hes got because of injuries...i remember a year or two ago he was going to set the record for double-doubles for someone his age...i think if he gets healthy he will be a beast, maybe not an all-star caliber player, but a solid big man...Plus i havent heard much about him at all, so how could he be overrated?

No, Okafor was expected to be a defensive player when he was drafted, and Okafor is rebounding and blocking shots pretty well in his first few seasons in the NBA. The only thing that slows down his improvment had been injuries. Okafor was a solid 2nd overall pick.

i don't. i think that most people think that he is what he is, a guy that when he's healthy will give you 14-17 points per game, 10-13 rebounds, and a couple blocks per game. he'll play smart tough defense, and he'll work hard on offense, but he's not the kind of player who will carry a team, because he just isn't that talented or athletic. he's the kind of player every team wants to have. you can build your defensive schemes around him. he's not a perennial all-star or franchise player, but he's a very very solid player

I don't think he's overrated, but he has probably gotten the most out of his ability thus far.I don't think he's on level with someone like Dwight Howard, though.
