What a load of crap. i agree with those who think emo's are simply a fashion statement and attitude statement and nothing more. Anyone who says they are 'deeply depressed' are kidding themselves. Put these little kids (from perfectly normal families) into a war torn country or a life and death situation and THEN they'll know depression. What a joke. Its called- puberty and growing up kids and facing the real world - try doing some of it.

Who's with me on this?

Cheers- Cath

Emo is a fashion thing for kids that want attention

your half right, many "emos" just consider it a fashion choice or a way of being different, but there are those who are actually depressed, and the mental state of depression has absolutely nothing to do with how well of you ACTUALLY are, many of the poorest people in the world can lead perfectly happy lives while many of those who have grown up with middle-class or wealthy life styles and have had a loving family and an all aorund good life can end up depressed because it is a condition, it can be passed on genetically and the chemical imbalances can be treated with drugs.

Why is this question in the Lesbian, Gay , Bisexual, and Transgendered category?

Of course their bull-sitting us, it is nothing but a fashion statement, what does being depressed have to do with eyeliner, skinny jeans, and funky hair.

How the hell do you expect to think you are depressed when your outfit cost you like 200 hundred bucks.

I mean, their are people who are truly depressed etc etc....but they are not the ones who do the whole "emo" thing, because real people who are depressed do not call attention to themselves.

I agree with tuberoot. I was somewhat of an emo years before the term "emo" was coined. We're not in it for the fashion or the attention. I mean, most of the kids nowadays are. I'm not nor was I ever.

Chemical.

I could hug you. I've been waiting for the dam fad to pass for years. it just won't go away. i don't doubt that they might have sad feelings once in a while, but like you said, it's called growing up and everyone goes through it. what's worse, is when they come from well-to-do families and have never experienced a REAL problem in thier life.

I'm not against what you are saying. I think that it's true that 'civilization and living in a land where relative safety is shared, we create these strange ideologies.

But I would like every Emo out there know that I like them. Before there was Emo, I was Emo.

You are depressing the emos with your angry portrayal of them. you should hug the next emo kid you see and let them know that they are loved and cared for. Perhaps after you treat them with kindness they will become normal, well adjusted people like you.
