Wouldnt a cotton swab or a sponge absorb the stain and waste it?

Definitely use a make up sponge. A little bit goes a long way, so start out with VERY little and add more only if you need it. Try practicing a time or two until you get the hang of it before you go to bed at night and then wash it off. If you have high cheek bones, put it just below your cheek bones and use less, if you have undefined cheek bones put it right on them.

You can use one of those little make up sponges to put it on. Smile, and put it on the "apples" of your cheeks. It will look so natural.

apply it very carefully.... try using a makeup sponge to apply. It stains very easily, so be careful.
