In 1939 the allied powers have been france and Britain, the axis powers have been Germany and Italy and the independent powers have been the u . s . and maximum different countries. In June 1941 the Soviet Union joined the allied powers. In December 1941 the u . s . joined the allied powers and Japan joined the Axis. In September 1943 Italy left the axis powers.

If you didn't know that one already you're going to fail the test regardless of if you get that question or not.
And D-day. what language is that? 1944. were the allies or axis on the offensive then? which side won and when? If the allies won in 45, would they most likely have been on the offensive or the defensive in 44?

Allies did. That was the point when we were able to get troops on the ground in Europe. The 1st 20 minutes of Saving Private Ryan shows this event, and you'll never forget it.
