switch it around so that it resembles y=mx+b
so y= .25x +3

Change the equation to the slope-intercept form
y = mx + b
-x+4y=12
y = ¼x + 12

On the graph, mark the y axis intercept which is 12
Now when y = 0, x = -48, mark this spot on the graph. Now connect the two points and you have the graph.

Get the y by itself, so that your equation looks like "y=..."

-x+4y=12

add x:

4y = x + 12

divide by 4:

y = x/4 + 12
or
y = (1/4)x + 12
or
y = .25x + 12

Those three mean the same thing.
