Hi, I am looking at buying a home. 3 years ago I lost my job and went bankrupt and had a foreclosure. How long do I have to wait before I can get a conventional home loan? My credit score is 684 if that helps.

Foreclosure is what hurt you the most. I have banks that will lend to borrowers who are 2 years out of foreclosure. BK's not big a deal anymore.

bankruptcy stays on your record for 10 years you probably will not be able to buy a house before then. And a foreclosure is the nail in your coffin. You will need an extremely large downpayment and your interest rate will be through the roof. good luck.

If you plan to pay back the money , you can ask for a loan at Prosper. More information at http://www.acreditlibrary.com/prosper.html . You can also try your luck at online charities, people may send donations. More information at http://www.laodn.org/
