Tell me WHY???

Question

Alright..so I'm a REALLY broke a** college student right now and I'm having some financial difficulties. So, I got a summer job working at a fast food place, and also a part time job at a blood bank. Well, the fast food place wants me to shave my goatee!!! DAMMIT!! It took me like a YEAR to start growing this, and now they want me to shave it off??!!
What would you do? I mean I REALLY need the money right now. Would you shave or no?

If you really need the money, you should shave. Being able to afford your essential needs outweigh vanity.

they have no right asking you to shave unless it is in the hand book and do other people there have facial hair i have worked fast food a long time ago and they did not have to shave they just had to remove facial piercings so check your handbook and decide if you need the job more than your goatee take care and good luck remember to SMILE

Shave it and get used to it. It is the real world and you always couldn't wait to grow up, could you.
This is just the first step in your downfall. You will go through all of the things every other man has gone through. By the time your life is over you will be a broken man, being driven around by your nagging wife and totally dependent on her. At this point you can't die soon enough. It is why men die before their wives. Because they want to.
Your goatee is the first step pal. Go ahead and get it over with.

That really stinks. It's taking off part of the unique person you are. Are there any other fast food joints around? If so I'd check with them, if not then you probably don't have a huge choice. You might consider working at a carwash instead, though. I did in college and the tips are really good. Plus you can be who you "is." : )

Well, is the job market really that rough where you are? Is there any internship money, or research assistant job avail? Even delivering pizza? Bussing tables?

Secondly, as someone born male, let me reassure you that when you shave it just comes back thicker and stronger. So if you have to, you have to. We all do yucky things to survive in college. Good luck.

no i wouldnt shave it . like that is the most important thing on your face , i got one too and they like take for ever to grow and let me tell you i would not shave it off ever
i d say if you like so totaly need the money then shave it off but if not then try to find a better job - stay out of the cooking bissness. and yes i am gay.

Aw, shoot man, that's a tough one. I've never heard of that for a fast-food place.
They make hair nets, and most places make everyone wear one of those. They also make beard-nets for cleanrooms and production houses. Could you wear one of those? Or is it the "look" they don't like.

I've been that broke, and I've had to compromise my "principles" to get paid. So I'd say, yeah, shave it if you really need the bucks.

But it sucks.

It's a hygienic thing, which is funny because there are some really homely looking people at the McDonald's in my town, like terrible acne and greasy hair/skin...ew it grosses me out just writing about it. It is pretty stupid when you think of it. Goatees are cute.

they will say everything else like buy a black shoes, come here 10 min before you start working etc etc
find something else
i quit a cafe job because of some bitchy bosses and found bank job with a lot more money :P

It'll grow back, even if it takes a while. Meanwhile you need to survive. You aren't your goatee, and your goatee isn't your gonads. You'll be fine. Many have sacrificed more for less.
