There is a brand called Water Warden that Major League Baseball endorses. It is very durable and needs little water, but it has a bit of a high price tag.

Bermuda grass! I have it in my back yard and it is very drought resistant so you don't have to water as often. It is also good for choking out weeds.

Zoysia is a great hot and dry weather grass.

If you live in the mid-West westward, then Buffalograss or Blue Grama.
