The flame angel would be okay in a tank of that size, but at 7" and 12" the tangs would be too large. Plus, they're active fish and would have practically no swimming room.

It's usually not a good idea in saltwater to keep fish from the same family, of the same color, or with the same body shape in the same tank. Marine species tend to be more aggressive than their freshwater counterparts. They have to compete with each other for food and mates, in a more compact area (the reef) so you want to do as much as possible to keep your fish from seeing each other as a "rival".

Besides any of the dwarf angels, some choices you could keep in a 55 tank would be a pair of clownfish, some chromis (which are a peaceful schooling fish), longnose hawkfish, cardinalfish, a clown or group of scissortail goby, canary or midas blenny, a firefish, or a six-lined wrasse. You can see more about these species below.

The Yellow Hawaiian Tang, also known as the Yellow Sailfin Tang, or Yellow Surgeonfish, has an oval bright yellow body. It is widespread throughout Hawaii to Indonesia and the Great Barrier Reef.

A 100 gallon or larger aquarium is necessary to provide plenty of swimming room. It is aggressive towards its own species, or Tangs in general, and it is best to keep only one per tank. If more than one tang is to be kept, introduce simultaneously.

Although Tangs will eat meaty foods along with the other fish in the aquarium, it is important that they are offered plenty of marine based seaweed and algae. This will strengthen their immune system, reduce aggression and improve their overall health. Offer dried seaweed tied to a rock or use a veggie clip, and feed at least 3 times per week. Sea Veggies, Seaweed Salad and Ocean Nutrition are all ideal products and are very easy to use.

Make sure you have lots of hiding places for the flame angel. If your tang(s) are as territorial as most, it's going to need them! You may have to keep an eye on the angel and make sure it isn't having its fins eaten or being attacked by the tang.

The yellow tang is agressive. If you are going to do this, be careful and but the fish in by the most peaceful fish first, and give it a week to get used to it before you add the next thing. You should not add anymore fish after those three. Make sure that you have about 1-2 LBS of live rock per gallon to give hiding places (much cooler anyways) . Make sure you use sand as well. You cannot add fish, but you can probably add a few cleaner shrimp, 25 hermit crabs, 50 turbo snails and a sally light foot crab
