It's like a pipeline. As your brain is processing something, the next batch of info is getting captured.

Years ago there were experiments with subliminal advertizing. A message was flashed on the movie screen for less than 1/16 of a sec. Why 1/16 of a sec? Because that is how long something must flash on the retina to get a message of it to the brain. Anything moving so fast that the image cannot stay on the retina appears as a blur. So, there are many things we don't see, and many things we see that we don't know that we see.

Visual sight has a speed: the speed of light.
Our brains process information using electrical impulses, which travel slower than the speed of light.
While your brain processes the information it just received, there is a lot more information on the way.

Electrical impulses travel within the body VERY slowly. Nowhere NEAR the speed in a vaccum. So our perceptiosn are nowhere near the speed of light.

Its watching the Lumberjack skit by Monty Python...
I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay
I cut down trees, I skip and jump,
I like to press wild flowers,
I put on women's clothing,
And hang around in bars.
He cuts down trees, he skips and jumps,
He likes to press wild flowers,
He put on women's clothing,
And hang around in bars.
I'm a lumberjack and I'm OK,
I sleep all night and I work all day.
I cut down trees, I wear high heels,
Suspenders and a bra,
I wish I were a girlie,
Just like my dear papa.
He cuts down trees, he wears high heels,
Suspenders and a bra,
He wants to be a girlie,
Just like his dear papa????
I'm a lumberjack and I'm OK,
I sleep all night and I work all day.
He's a lumberjack and he's OK,
He sleeps all night and works all day.
