I believe you'd got things a little confused.

"Shemale" is a term in pornography to refer to a pre-operative male-to-female transsexual woman who still has her penis (a man who takes female hormones and may have had breast augmentation). They are not women who have had sugery to obtain penises (and believe me, if you knew anything about sugeries to create penises, you'd know that getting anything that realistic is prohibitively expensive and prety much impossible).

These male-to-female transsexual women have transitioned their sex because they feel like women inside, and want to correct the fact that they were born into a male body. Same for the female-to-male transsexual men who happened to be born into female bodies and begin to change their bodies. Nobody goes through the trials and cost and pain of transitioning their sex just to "see how it feels to have a penis" (or a vagina). For these "shemales", it's a matter of life and their happiness and sanity to be female. Many of them are acting in porn so that they can raise up the money to get the last surgery that will transform the penis into a vagina.

I cannot respond for every individual that is FTM, but I have taken some classes that deal with genetics and there are genetic anomalies that create more testosterone usage in a "physical" female than a female with lower "normal" levels. There is Klienfelter's syndrome, hermaphroditism and a lot of research that genetic female fetusus that are exposed to more testosterone than usual in utero have more masculine characteristics. Maybe some individuals do not feel comfortable in their skin because they don't really feel as though it is their skin. Every individual case is different, if I just wanted to see what it felt like, I do not believe I would op for expensive intrusive surgery so it is more than just wanting to try something out, it is an educated, personal descision. It is not a descision that is made in haste by any means, and then the individual must live as a man for a year or two before having surgery.

No, they don't just want to see how it feels to have a penis. No one pays that much money "just to see how it feels".

the term you are looking for is Fruedian " penis envy" and it is quite common amongst lesbians. There is even one woman with penis envy posting regularly on here. she claims to be a FTM transexual but her posts( complaining that the " other lesbians" don't understand her) indicate otherwise.
