It depends. Is this your first pregnancy? Sometimes you can be dialated for over a week and still not have your baby. If your contractions are erratic Ex. every fifteen minutes for 30 second (for like an hour) and then every five minutes for 60 seconds. Then there is still along way to go. Pre labour can last a long time. For myself it lasted 46 1/2 hours. My actual labour (when you have dialated to 10cm and start pushing) lasted an hour and 10 minutes. You should go to the hospital when your contractions are 3 - 5 minutes apart, and have been for about 60 - 90 minutes. They should also be lasting longer and the pain during each contraction should be stronger. If your water has broken, go to the hospital immediatly so they can test the babys' ambiotic fluid.
If your water is not broken, you can take a hot bath to relieve some of the pain. If it has broken you can only take a shower.
I hope this helps and good luck!

I stayed at 2.5 dilated from 4 months in till the day my son was born! Since you are fully effaced, I'm hoping that you are in your last term and everything is going well and both you and the baby are healthy. If you are trying to speed things along, do alot of walking and get a foot rub! Believe me, when you do begin labor, you will know. In the meantime, just walk around, and try not to stress. It could be anywhere from an hour to two or three weeks, depending on if your mucous plug had dropped. If it has, you'll be going into labor most likely in the next few days! Hang in there!
Hope you have a quick and easy labor and congratulations on the new baby!!!

I was once dilated to a four and 70% effaced from approximately 36 weeks on, and I went into exertions at forty two weeks. This is the motive why I refuse vaginal tests for the duration of being pregnant. Dilation and effacement tests do not fairly inform you something and most effective serve to make you extra antsy approximately whilst your child will probably be right here. Being dilated does not imply you are going to move into exertions each time quickly, nor does being closed imply you're now not going into exertions for a even as.

Is this your first child? With contractions sounds like you are in labor the first stage which can take hours. If your contractions are consitstant and over a hour long then I would go back and be like your keeping me lol. When I had so called false labor they gave me a pill to stop the contractions.

It is hard to say. With my first I was 3cm and fully effaced for over a week before I went into labor and with my second one I was 2cm and fully effaced one day then two days later I went to the hospital to be induced and was already 6cm and never felt a labor pain until my last two cm. Hard to say but good luck!

I had the same thing happen to me. If you want to help the situation along, go for a walk and do some lunges while you are at it. I did and it worked for me. The hospital sent me home at about 2:30am, my water broke at 4am and I had her at 8:17am. Hope it helps. Good luck.
