I would never lend my mom money. I asked to borrow $500 for a down payment on a car and she said no. I had promised to pay it back the very next month when my check went through but she wouldn't. She taught me well...I will never rely on her for anything. Never could, never will. Even emotional support is off limits with her. All i can say is when her business goes belly up, I won't feel the least bit sorry for her. She's the one that blew all of her money (on frivolous things) and couldn't lend just a little to help me when i was in need. So, we asked my husbands parents for help, they were more than happy to help and we paid them right back. They didn't even have to wait a full month...2 weeks.

Me too. But I lent her about $600 because we were moving up north from quite a ways south and she didn't have enough on her own, so I offered... She ended up paying me back with interest, but I wasn't really wanting to ask for it back....

Yup. I lent my mom money to pay her mortgage when I was in college. I didn't ask for it back though. I figure she helped me out, I could do the same.

No, but for April Fool's day my dad asked me if he could borrow like 10 grand because my mom wanted a Hummer. I said sure and thought he was completely serious. I would give them money if they needed it or wanted to retire early or something. They would do the same for me.

No. But I've borrowed from them. Always paid it back. Wish I could say the same for my kids. They consider a loan from Dad to be a gift.

I've never had to lend money to my mom before, but my cousin used to lend her money to my aunt all the time (well not all the time, but she always complained about people oweing her money).

Maybe you should start paying rent and start paying electricity bills and start working full time on top of going to school. Then you can start making decisions on where money should go.

Yeah, it was for dinner. I don't think shse ever paid me back though. Come to think of it, I don't think very many people I lend money to pay me back unless I say something.
