Try to readjust your motion sensor so the photo cell is not in the path of the light. It sounds like when the light comes on, it turns the photo cell off.

We have a security light over the garage doors that comes on automatically when it gets dark and goes off when the sun comes up. It lights up the whole yard !!!! I turn on the porch light when someone comes or goes. I turn it on every time I let the dog in or out.

Once again, it is either the sensitivity setting is a little too sensitive, or the photo eye is in the light path.

Good luck with the adjustments.

If the bulb color is a purpleish or orange color, it is a sign that the bulb is going. A Metalhaloide bulb (purple) or the sodium bulb (orange) flicker on and off when the bulb burns out.

If the light also has a photo cell, it could be that it is reacting off of its own light.
