My brother started playing the saxophone when he was in middle school and i used to HATE it! But now, he is a college graduate with his own jazz band and i love the music they play :)

I prefer Smooth Jazz over the Classic Jazz. I'm familiar with some of the artists in the Classic Jazz and have heard some of their music, some of which are very good.

I've been a jazz fan since 1950 when I first heard Miles Davis and the Birth Of The Cool

I love most jazz. The only jazz I don't like is dixieland and most big band music. I do like Louie Armstrong in dixieland as well as Duke Ellington and Count Basies big bands.
What first got me into jazz was "Fusion" jazz. My favorites were the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Chick Coreas Return To Forever, Jeff Beck - Wired, Al Dimeola, etc.

Yeah Jazz is amazing! I totally agree, jazz isn't as easy as it looks. It requires a lot of practice! But once you get the hang of it there's no stoping you! So do you play a jazz instrument?

I love Jazz - especially guitar jazz. Generally speaking, to play jazz you have be quite talented, certainly moreso than the majority of pop/rock/hip hop artists.

I heard Swing when I was a little kid, along with some Louis Armstrong and Ella. During the 50's I dialed up Sid McCoy on WFLD in Chicago and heard the most wonderful music and it changed my musical life from that point on. I still listen to most music (not rap or folk and I am tired of polka) but jazz is number one for me.

I like a lot of post WWll jazz, but not all of it. Jump blues/jazz, like Louis Jordan was OK, but when I heard Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, and Miles Davis, I was totally sold on what they were doing. From Bop to post-Bop, improv to fusion, I've been hooked. I still keep finding interesting music in all of those styles, which just makes me want to hear more.
Lately I've been listening to lots of fusion, like Weather Report, Billy Cobham, Jean Luc Ponty, Sonny Sharrock, Alphonse Mouzon and Tommy Bolin.

I do. I recently took a jazz history-type class and learned about every thing from early jazz to contemporary.
