I don't know if you've read these or not, or are not into the classics, but try these:

1984 by George Orwell - an amazing book. Wow. Its weird, twisted, crazy, and yes, provocative. Four out of Five ain't bad. Depending on how old you are, you've probably read this before. But hey, read it again!!!

Wicked by Gregory Maguire- I recently read this book, and if you've ever seen the musical, you'll probably enjoy the book too. It gives the background story on the Wicked Witch of the West, who may not be as wicked as we make her out to be. Anyway, it's a cool book.

American Shaolin by Matthew Polly- An autobiography on his life, he makes the decision to turn himself into a fighting machine and goes from Topeka, Kansas to the Shaolin Temple, home of the fighting monks. A brilliant book. Funny. Good. Read it.

Here's just a list of some more books that are good to read.
Da Vinci Code (Who hasn't read this!?!?!?!)
The Good Earth
Memoirs of a Geisha
The Radioactive Boy Scout (a true story)
Victor (meant to be a book for teenagers, but tells about the savage of Aveyron. I find it quite funny, actually)

So, in conclusion, take my suggestions. These are awesome books, and you should read them. Or not, whatever.

the weirdest most twisted books I've read (and I've read hundreds) are Cursed and The Late Show both by John Douglas. If you can get stuff by De Sade those r extreme too,but by far the sickest read is an e-graphic novel series have named Verotika but these are not for the faint of heart.I keep these only to show and tell how twisted (tho original)a creator's mind can get

I always like a book by author Mitch Albom. (Profane)

If you have never read the Blackwater series by Michael McDowell, a six book fiction series about a family in Perdido, Alabama. (Weird, Twisted, Crazy)... and spooky, an excellent read

not really into weird or provocative, sorry

Hmm I know of a lot of realistic-fiction books such as Go Ask Alice that might fit that criteria. That book is about a teenage girl's experiences with drugs and that whole scene...it's told through her diary.

Some Jackie Collins books might fall under that catagory, as well. Although her books tend to be sexually explicit, they really ARE twisted and crazy!

Try reading something from Poppy Z Brite: she can get pretty twisted.
Filth by Irvine Welsh also meets all of the above categories.

If you're looking for fiction I'd suggest the writings of Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, and Michael Moorcock.

Last summer all i read was James Pattersons 'womans murder club' series, and they actually just came out with another one. It's incredibly crazy and twisted, and insanely suspenseful.

I just read "Because They Wanted To" by Mary Gaitskill, and it was pretty good. Gaitskill was a stripper when she was younger so she's not afraid to talk dirty, but she still maintains a sense of literary importance. It's not like reading porn or anything.
