Mainly between a black male and white woman?
White male and black woman?

I am doing a position paper on Interracial dating. The pros and cons and all that. It's for sociology. I need some opinions from other people to help with my argument.

First of all, races do not exist. Color and culture do. Secondly, why does it seem that most questions dealing with romantic interracial activity are represented with a black person, and a white person? What difference does it make what color or culture these couples represent? What really matters how capably they will accommodate the differences each will bring to the union. I can see no difference in a union formed by members of different colors and or culture, than I can see in a union created by two people of the same color but different culture. Accommodation is ALWAYS required.

I am white and I am married to a black man, we have been together for 10 years. There are definately people out there that do treat you different, sometimes good, sometimes bad. But they are a minority. Most people are cool. The people that may have a different attitude toward us are mostly older people. But you have to understand that in the times they grew up in it was very uncommon to see two people of different races together and you also have to take into consideration that we live in Arkansas.

I would not personally have a problem, except for the fact that I am already married, but I am sure you are referring to the dating and marrying by others. Unfortunately, there are many people who feel like they can say something about it. The impressions of others may be more of a problem depending on where you live.
An interesting story is that my wife, myself, and our new adopted child from China were eating in a restaurant that we stopped at on our way home from visiting. It was late and the restaurant help were sitting at a table waiting for us to finish, about ten of us. They were looking at us and I heard one of the staff say, "Well one of them must have some Asian blood in them." I might have said something if I could keep a straight face.

In my opinion, inter-racial marriage should be law in this already troubled world. Only then we can possible get a peaceful world. Almost all the wars in the world is fueled racism, religion or greed.

If everyone agrees that inter-racial marriage is the law and abides by it, in 50 years time the whole world will blend into a united raceless world and then perhaps we can start understanding each other and move on towards peaceful and productive co-existance.

Scientificly proven that mixing the gene pool will created smarter and more resiliant offsprings.

It is fine to like who you like and date who you like. One problem i see is that the two races are radically different physically. Now that leave your offspring with a chance that the mix might not go so well. Large white and dark spots all over the body, Problems with hair. The tone races are prone to different diseases this might leave a mix child extra vulnerable. In two days culture we still have strong issues. It is hard for a child to fit in when there is no side to take. All though it is wrong, sometime it is better to have a side that is not judgemental of you because your a full part of that group.

Having said all that; with careful hand picked associations of people a mix can live a very happy loving life with full acceptance, love and respect. Not all offspring of mix couple have problems and are healthy and look well.

Today it is still acceptance and a genetic gamble that remains the problem.

no hate mail please, I have no racist blood in me, I for purpose of assisting in possible issues just am trying to be generic and talk about what I know and have seen, it is not an attitude.

I don't see what the big deal is about interracial dating/marriage. People should be able to fall in love with each other regardless of the color of the other person's skin.

Well I'm white and my girlfriend is black

I have mixed feelings about it.

On one side I think anyone should be able to date whomever they like, but on the other side I think that eventually when everyone mixes it will destroy our individual ethnic identities.

In other words, imagine if everyone on earth were mixed and there were no more defined whites, blacks, asians etc. Wouldn't that be sad and boring? All culture would be destroyed and everyone would think, look and talk the same.

So, like I said. On one side I think inter-racial love is nice, cause I'm doing it, but on the other side, in the long term, it may be destroying our uniqueness as different races and ethnic groups.

I always say if you have to ask, do not do.....Personally I am attracted to Indian men. I would not care if any of my children dated interracial as long as they can deal with what could come their way. Prejudices, religious issue and culture issues.

My family is so mixed with different ethnic backgrounds, fortunately. We have Spanish, Scottish, Irish, Mexican, African-American, Korean and Peruvian blood in my mother's family and it's not that we don't care about race or ethnicity, we embrace everyone's differences.

My brother and I are Hispanic and look it and we've both dated outside of our ethnic group. My husband is also Hispanic and my brother ultimately seems to be attracted to African-American women.

Good luck!

There is nothing wrong with dating a person of a different color, if you are dating them because you are attracted to them mentally and physically. However if you are doing it just to be cool or to shock then it is wrong.
