Im 14 and when i grow up i want to be a serious actor!! Ive been taking acting classes since ive been 6 but ive been paying for them and im totally comitted to doing it, but my parents really dont approve of it and they want me to be a doctor, i dont wanna let them down but i dont wanna change my life plan just to make them happy, what should i do??? (They think im just acting for fun)

So sad to hear that your parents are not supporting you in what you have decided to make your future lifestyle...i can tell that you are really passionate with this acting major...and you know what...i believe that you can do it! and well if you're thinking about changing your major to being a doctor...i dont think that you should even be thinking about that...its your future, not your parents future! you do whatever you want to do of you life..your parents cant decide what you are going to be in your future...besides they are not going to be the ones doing what they want you to do...its what you like that you have to do...and if you do so...trust me...you'll succeed like no other...on the other hand, if you do what your parents want you to do...then you might succeed...im not saying that you wont...but ask yourself this question...are you going to be happy? are you going to be enjoying the moments you have at work? now really do think about these questions...if you feel that you can do that major that your parents want you to do...then feel free....but make sure that you do what makes you happy...

well being that you are 14 your parents can refuse to let you take the acting classes or pursu acting until you are 18...but if you are paying for them and keeping your grades up it would be really rude for them to do that. as far as them wanting you to be a doctor, politely tell them you understand they want the best for you and you love them for it, but right now acting makes you happy. when you get older if acting still makes you happy, that is what you are going to do. tell them you would love their support but if they cant give it you still have to do what makes you happy

You have to make the most of your life...YOUR life. You can't live anyone's but your own. When you go to bed at night, and wake up in the morning,you have to live with your decisions whether good or bad, whether happy or sad; and you have to ask yourself down the road too, "am I being all that I could be?" "is this my dream,or am I'm living someone els's fade or unrealized dream?" you can't please everyone, but at least you'll have the reassurance that you gave it your all, and that you tried. Forget about trying to please your parents. You'll be miserable trying to be a doctor or whatever it is your parents want you to be, so it is not worth it. You can major in drama in college or go to the Juilliard School, but as for right now, just concentrate on what makes you best.

follow your dream, if u want to act then act. your parents are like mines, i wanted to be a fashion designer, but they said thats not a good career, they told me to be a doctor too, and i hate doctors, i hate seeing blood...but i wont be a doctor, i decided to be a kindergarten teacher...so just do what you want to do, its your happiness
