According to "official" reports a Lt. Colonel at an Air Force base near Roswell NM saw a high altitude weather baloon crash in the desert and mistook it for a crashed spacecraft. UFO sightings were a big deal that year, World War II had just ended and people were already jittery about the Russians invading, so its not hard to imagine that a sort of UFO fever was sweeping the country. Well according to the Air Force, there were human shaped dummies in the weather balloon, which were covered with ice from being at high altitude and this retarded Lt. Colonel thought they were aliens (and not the Mexican kind). This official explanation by the Air Force is so cockamamie (its a real word, go ahead and look it up) that many people would rather believe that the government and military are involved in a secret conspiracy to harbor this downed alien spacecraft and keep the technology therein all to themselves. It is interesting to note that within thirty years of this alleged event, of which there is no lasting physical evidence, American scientists invented laser beams, transistors, infra-red remote controls, microwave ovens, printed circuitboards, radio astronomy, microchips, and velcro as well as sending men to the moon..... coincidence?? You decide.

If I told you on a public forum like this it wouldn't be covered up anymore, now would it? Of course we know were you are, and we will be sending a team to "explain" it all to you. When a couple of guys in black suits come to your door, please let them in without making a scene, they will make sure you know every thing you "need" to know (which may be a lot less than you know now, but thats the way it goes with these things)
Have a nice day.

Here's a Date Line interview about the Roswell incident:
Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2d7OXTnyyQQ
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8SweXp7MRA
You should be able to get some pretty good notes from that. It's pretty elaborate.

Theres a lot of speculation about this. Some say its all hogwash. Others say it false BUT the US Gov't wants people to believe it because it may lead people to believe we have secrete technologies. Lastly, it may be that our gov't actually recovered a real downed space craft. Nobody knows for sure. But a cool place to start your search would be MUFON It stands for Mutual UFO Network. I'm sure they have a website if you search for "MUFON".

Eggman...you're mostly right...but it wasn't a Lt Colonel..it was a Major ( Jesse Marcel ) who "mistakened" a "weather balloon" for a "alien space ship".

there are many websites about the ufo phenomena. however, think about this. stars are REALLY FARRRRRRR away, if aliens were smart enough to build ships that could travel these great distances, then wouldnt they be smart enough to build instruments that they could use to monitor us right from their home planet? if they were so smart and they didnt want us to see them, then i dont think we would. and if they did want us to see them, then why dont they just land and say hello? and furthermore, why would they travel all this way just to cut up cows and stick things in people??? it just doesnt make sense!!!!!!!! we can barely send probes to nearby planets in our own solar system, and these supposed aliens can travel interstallar distances, and all the want to do is probe people? give me a break!!!!!!! hope this helps!!!!!
