My sixth grade daughter is in mathletes and she asked me and i do not want her to think that i am dumb!! SORRI FOLKS!!! LOL

sqrt(2000) = 44.72

I'm not sure what you mean by whole numbers surrounding it, but it could be 44 and 45.

Well, 2000 = 400*5 and 400 is a square,
so√2000 = √(400*5).
Now take 400 out of the radical to get
20√5 = 44.721(approximately).
This says 44 < √2000 < 45.
Another way to do the last part:
44² = 1976
45² = 2025.
Since 1976 < 2000 < 2025,
we can take the square root of all members here to get
44 < √2000 < 45.

The square root of 2000 is 44.72 or 200 square root of 5. The two whole consecutive numbers that surround it are 44 & 45. You could have just typed it in a calculator, and you would have gotten the answer, incase of another time.

sqrt(2000) = sqrt(100 x 4 x 5)
= 20sqrt(5), because 10x10 = 100, 2x2 = 4
= 44.721
