i have a creative webcam and it works great when i connect it directly to my computer with usb. but i only have two usb ports and use them for a keyboard and a printer so i decided to use a hub. i bought one and windows recognizes it. its a plug and play so it works . when i plug my camera into it it turns the light on like if it is plugged in but when i try to see it using slightspeed it says that there is no video capture device detected.. please help..

Some devices do not work well off hubs. So get the camera to a direct connection and the other devices on the hub. If that still doesn't work, get an additional USB PCI card.

Hubs are okay for some things. BUT.... it's probably better to get yourself a USB PCI card and install it. Usually they offer at least 4 ports on the external part of the card and one internal. PCI is the way to go.

Buy and install a USB PCI card and you can add 2 or 4 additional USB ports !!
