im usually the type of person who is always on top of their work (schoolwork, papers, assignments, etc) and always operate with a productive flow but these past couple of months I have been experiencing the opposite of everything that I am, Ive waited last minute to hand in assignments, I read assigned texts and novels and feel like im just reading words and not grasping the themes like i normally do, ive become introverted, not vibrant and discussing things in class like i normally do, now i feel like im at a loss for words when asked to speak or called on - or even in my own thinking - Its almost like a disconnect - I cant explain this phase its terrible and i wouldnt wish it on anyone - the worst part is that im going thru it now during my last semester at college and hating this state of being - at times i feel like the productive me again but those moments are fleeting - this is so troublesome because i know what i am capable of and what it is like when i feel like "myself"-

Your burnt out. You need some rest (NOT TOO MUCH!). Also check your diet. You need to take care of yourself. You are older now:p Leave the beer alone.

I know exactly how u feel because I have been there myself. I am not a professional but my opinion would be that its because you are coming to end of college and are going to have to go out into the world on your own now. Logic is very useful to us, especially when in college, to be successful and to get the most out of your education. Now comes the hard part and logic doesn't answer that big question of what am I going to now, no more structured life, scheduled classes etc. I think it is a normal reaction - deep down inside you probably have some doubts, questions, and worries about your future after college, so your mind is just trying to adjust to the future of which is still uncertain. My advice - don't worry so much about it, most things get better with time and if this "unusual" state of mind is not your focus all the time, you will probably see that everything will return to how you like to live your life. Good luck, you have allot of excellent traits that will serve you well. Have some fun and things will return I'm sure.

How has the weather been? Extended bad weather or cold weather can cause "the blues." Also, what have you been eating? A bad diet can also sap your energy and motivation. Sleep also needs to be considered.
If all that fails then you're probably suffering from depression. It affects intelligent people more often than not, becuase we can THINK about how pointless our lives are and how many things we CAN'T do. See if there's a school counselor or a professional you can talk to. Just talking about it may help you get through it. If not, then you could be dealing with something more severe that would require medication. Don't put it off. If left unchecked you can go downhill in a hurry.

I think you may be suffering from a "let down" caused by your impending leaving school. What are your plans for the future after school? Do you have a job lined up or are you going into grad school? Leaving college is a major life change that often causes anxiety that can manifest itself in a number of ways. It may be helpful to see a counselor to discuss these issues, or talk to a good friend. Try to stay focused on the work you have to do now and don't think so much of the future. The future will take care of itself.

Sounds like depression and don't panic if that's what it is. A lot of high-achievers eventually burn out and hit that mark we call depression. I went through it in high-school, dropped out just before graduating. Looking back, I should have talked to my doctor about it but hindsight is what it is. You may need counselling ... you may just need some time out ... but regardless, talk to your doctor if s/he is one you are comfortable with. S/he might be able to refer you for couselling. And by the way ... if you had any idea how many people suffer from depression or some sort of mental dis-ease, you might not feel so awful about this slump you're in. Unfortunately most of society still views it with stigma. Ironically enough it's those very people who have problems themselves but are in denial. Chin up. Work through it and get the help you need ... including letting your friends know.

It sounds like you were way too enthusiastic about school and now that's is nearing an end you've become disenchanted and mildly depressed.
Could also be that you just ran out of steam a bit too early. Just gotta keep on pushing. Perhaps find a different method from your norm.

You are educated, you do know that stress can attack even the most well-adjusted person on earth. Sounds to me, you have been driven, about to achieve your goal in life? Maybe through it all, you have maxed yourself, and now your subconcious knows it's almost over..ready to relax..When you do graduate, I am sure the old you will be there, try not to fret, everyone at sometime in their life can honestly say they are stressed the f--k out!

Babe it means you are very stressed and tired.
Find out from what so you can fix it.
Then you'll be your own self.
Maybe you need a holiday, watch movie, take a relaxing walk.
Good Luck and God Bless
