If I visit a Soccer game in Europe, and don't support the locals, I'm luckey to escape the stadium without being harmed. If I go to a Hockey game in Canada or the US, I can go there openly supporting the visitors and the people all around, including myself, are having a great time with that. But this is exactly the other way around if it comes to Politics. So why is it that the 2 large parties accuse each other of being crooks? (even the youngest family members blowing in the same horn) Canadiens are not married to one party only. We will give them a chance to perform, and if they can't, out they go in the next Election, we will vote for the other party.

Thanks Great question. Democrats and Republicans do not hate the other party. Two things come to mind. One five to ten percent of the extrema of each party do feel this way.In this group brings a lot attention to then self. The second point is hard choices. When you have a War that the nation is split on you must have finger pointing.Victory has many dads and failure is an orphan.Would you stand by and take the blame or blame the other guy?

Politics never used to be this dirty. Seems, to me at least, that since computers came wherein everyone feels they have such free speech that they can say anything and not be halted, and blogs are popular, and instant messages and blasting, harrassing and bullying that the abuses against political parties arrived. Even lately "booing" has not been stopped so it's gotten worse. But it's all part of competition.
Democrats are labor and Republicans are business, so there are clashes. Since there is never an easy way to solve the clashes so negotiations must take place, so you'll see from one term to the next one party gets what they want and the next term the other party gets what they want. What's so difficult is when the senate and congress' are in parties in opposition to the president, and the opposition has gotten stronger over the years because the number of members of congress and the senate have grown. And yes, we're allowed to vote cross party and we do.
The good thing is that our legislators don't battle it out pulling hair and punching each other like some countries do.

The media would have you believe that all of America is polarized, left vs. right. And most politicians feel that way about the issues they value. But the reality is, most Americans political views lie somewhere in the middle, or maybe a little left or right from middle. They're called moderates. But you don't hear much about that because it doesn't sound as sensational on CNN or FOX news. I don't think they hate each other personally, they're just trying to pull those people in the middle over to their side by using issues and statements that get a lot of media coverage. I'll admit though, before the 2000 election, things weren't as heated as they are now.

I really don't think Democrats and Republicans really hate each other. They strongly disagree and some are not afraid to express the differences of opinion but that is what democracy is all about. Without dissent and disagreement we might as well have a totalitarian government. In these posts many people say things stronger than they really believe just to irk or rile the opposition.

The parties have been taken over by thier more extreme members, leading to a lot of vitriol.
Most registered Republicans and Democrats - not the lunes who post crazy questions here, nor the volunteers who man the phones, nor the inner circles of thier national committies - don't hate eachother, in fact, they agree with eachother on many issues more than they do thier own party leadership.
They're called moderates, and they've been abandoned.

The relationship has not been this bad until the Republicans bought the presidency for George W. Bush in 2000. And, with the way GWB has failed the American people in general, by not being smart enough to be the leader of this great nation by way of more failures against no gains.

I tend to vote Democrat (I refuse to identify myself as a Democrat, Green or anything else), but I certainly don't hate other people if and because they're Republicans. It's not good for everyone in the world to agree with you 100 percent of the time. There is such a thing as diversity of opinion and values, and that's something I respect and see as necessary.
I have some very good friends who happen to be at the near-opposite end of the political spectrum from me. They're still my friends, and I like to hear different perspectives. They listen to mine, too. That's what open-minded folks do.

Democrats and Republicans hate each other very much because they issues that they carry are opposites and blindly support them. Accusations had increased the hostilities between them resulting to personal attacks that caused the hatred.

Republicans do not hate the Democrats bless their souls. Most Republicans feel sorry for the Democrats because they are lemmings and do not think for themselves, as displayed by the Bush Hatred that is coming from the party.
