Some people feel the need to point their finger in a direction away from themselves.

I have a close friend who has this belief and I found it shocking that she felt this way. I asked her what made this so unacceptable since in God's eyes a sin is a sin no matter how big or small it is, for example murder versus stealing. Her response was that in the bible it states to lay with a man as if he was your wife is an abomination. Therefore that sets it apart from all others. to me that is just a cop out for being small-minded. It truly amazes me that people who claim to be Christians can be so hateful. I was always of the understanding that we should all love one another regardless of race, religion or personal lifestyle. But hey guess I must not be a true christian then.

I've always wondered that myself. There is an incredible amount of hypocrisy in organized religion, which is why I chose to stay away. What's really amazing is they don't seem to notice the double standards and contradictory stances taken on various social issues. Amazing.

Because right-wing Christians see what they want.
It doesnt say anywhere in the bible homosexuality is wrong.
It says man should not lay with man
but nothing about lesbianism or bisexuality..
but in some religions poligamy is ok, so then that bears the question ..that bisexuality?

I'm sad to say that ALOT of Christians out there are hypocrites and they think its their job to judge people. When really what they should be doing is loving and being there for the people around them instead of kicking them.
Actions speak louder than words, no one is going to want to be around people who shove religion down their throats and tell them their going to hell, let alone join their religious beliefs.
But I've heard of one pastor who isn't really for same sex relationships, but at the same time he says just love them and be there for them. It isn't your job to condemn and judge.

I think it's because they find it personally disgusting and the Bible just so happens to agree with them. In other words they really are expressing their personal hatred of homesexuals and using the Bible to hide behind it with "hate the sin not the sinner".

I read it on here just a few days ago: If marriage is sacred, why are atheists allowed to do it? Wouldn't that harm marriage just as much as gays getting married?

Well, that;s what they are like. They choose what is wrong or right. They never consider anyone else's feelings. They just love to hate and if its not gays, it'll be another group.

Some Christians pick and choose what bits to preach and what to ignore, they normally pick the bits that are full of hatred.

because sadly gay people are in the minority, and people need something to be scared of. so they go for what they don't understand. if there were a majority of gay people, and gay people in power, this is something that would change.
but very good argument.
