Kobe is definately the better player and worth more to his team than Lebron is. Let's break this down for a second:
Dont get me wrong LeBron is a good player but like you I think that he is overrated. Everyone is giving them too much credit now for beating the wizards in the first round, who was without arenas and butler, and leading 2-0 against the nets who have been very dissapointing this season.
Let's look at the Cavs and Lakers without their star players. For the Cavs you would still have a decent team with players such as Gooden, Paplovic, Snow, Ilgaskius, Jones, Hughes, and Marshall. Considering how weak the East is, they would still make the playoffs with no problem. Now let's look at the Lakers without Kobe, they would only have Smush, Kwame, Luke, Odom, Bynum, and Vujacic. With the exception of Odom and Luke the rest of Kobe's supporting cast is very dissappointing. Without Kobe they would definately have the worst record in the NBA and absolutely no chance at reaching the playoffs. Because of Kobe the Lakers were contenders in the Western Conference, he knows how to elevate the game of his teammates and himself. He also knows how the put his entire team on his back and win basketball games by himself, something the Lebron has not mastered yet. It's no coincidence that when all 30 coaches in the NBA were asked the question, "What guy would you hate to play against in clutch situations?" 27 of the 30 coaches replied KOBE BRYANT. If Kobe had at least half of the talent that Lebron has Kobe would be getting ready to add another championship ring to his collection!!! Go Kobe!!!

Obviously Kobe Bryant is way more valuable to his team than Lebron. First of all, look at his supporting cast and compare it to Lebron's. It's Lamar Odom VS Ilgauskas, Hughes, Gooden, etc. Obviously Lebron's supporting cast is much deeper. Also, Kobe scores about 35% of his team's points where Lebron only scores about 28%. Kobe's the best scorer, passer, defender, shooter, and leader on his team. He's really the only guy that has mastered the triangle offense. He's his team's only true playoff experience. I don't think any of his teammates have been highly involved on a team that has made it past the first round. Can you picture the Lakers winning more games than the Cavs without Kobe? Obviously not.

I would say Kobe because the Lakers desperately need him, without him they wouldn't even be in the playoffs not only that but there sales would also go down if it wasn't for Kobe, Lebron is great player no doubt but he also has a better supporting cast than Kobe does, they can still win if they didn't have Lebron. So thats why everyone calls Kobe a ballhog, but suspect some changes next year as his team will be healthy and back on track.

In my honest opinion I think LeBron might be worth more to his Cavs. I am talking realistically, because I am a die hard Laker fan.
When the Cavs dont have him, sure they have an inconsistent Hughes and a declining Ilgauskaus(sp). They have great young talent, but I dont see it working without LeBron.
On the other hand, for Kobe, I think Odom needs to have "his team". Look at Miami, he led his team to the playoffs in the east back in 04. When he is focused and plays his heart out, he can be one of the best players. Not to mention the Lakers also have good young players too, like Farmar, and an alright center in Andrew Bynum.
This post is not biased at all because again, I am one hell of a Laker fan. But just because LeBron worths more than Kobe, doesnt mean in any way Lebron is better. Kobe is light years away ahead of LeBron.

I'm with you on that one. And its not because I bleed purple and gold. I was a little skeptical when the Lakers decided that Kobe would be the future and face of the franchise. But he has earned his right to be the best player in the league the for the last 3-5 seasons. Unlike Lebron, Kobe makes his teammates better and can take over a game if he needs to. Game like that doesn't show up up in the stats.

Kobe is way more valuable to his team. without Kobe there is no lakers. but the cavs have many other players that can score. and most of the time kobe can save the lakers in games and can hit buzzer beating shots to win the game he's focused on the game from the begining to the end of the game. lebron cant make clutch shots like kobe. kobe is the best player in the NBA.. i think its safe to say he's better than MJ. Kobe is way more valuable

James is indeed overrated in the sense that he hasn't really accomplished something that would amount to greatness such as a championship. But to answer your question, I think he's better than Kobe because of his all around talent. Offensive wise, we can compare him to a Scottie Pippen. He's a good passer and ball-handler and of course, he can definitely score. He's likewise a strong rebounder so that makes him a "walking triple-double". It is on defense, however, that he needs to improve. But with his size and matching quickness, he'll certainly become an outstanding defender. In short, Lebron does everything for his team and makes his teammates better players. As for Kobe, all he does is score.

kobe probly means more to his team because without him they would be awful, lebron is not overrated tho, he is an unbelievable player but if he got hurt the cavs would still be ok because they do have talent elsewhere
