I am looking for a job. I know that using the internet is helpful but most people find their jobs using other means. How did you find yours?

Job boards that are specific to your career field are usually a good bet. Yahoo hot jobs, and Monster jobs are the two main boards that get the most hits. Of course you need a really good resume in Word & Text format. Word format to fax & mail to employeers. Text format to cut & paste on employers websites.
My best advice to you is list your skills and look for a career you are qualified for that pays well. Research employers in your area and find a fair benefit package.

Hi! Well depending on the job you're looking for, the internet is fine. I usually use craigslist.org as I have had better chances at getting interviews from them than careerbuilder, monster, etc. But, I never got hired!

So being totally desperate, I started doing things the old fashioned way. Sorta! I thought of all the companies close to me where I would like to work at or was ok with at least, and asked if they were hiring. Called twice on some to make sure. Made a list of the ones hiring, the ones accepting applications, and the ones that just weren't interested.

I went out every day to fill out applications to the ones that were hiring. If they were accepting applications and were nearby then I would go also, to save gas.

It worked! As of today, I got two part-time jobs. I'm so happy!

So anyways, all this in under three weeks, and lots of interviews because I applied when they were actually hiring.

I wish you the best of luck!

Before the emergence of the internet, people have been seeking for jobs and getting employment. The Internet is just a modern way of reaching out to the world. Anyway to answer your question, take the following steps:

1. You must be sure you are good at whatever profession you are.
2. You must have self confidence and the ability to defend your certificates.
3. Make your intention for a new job known to your friends and associates.
4. Send out applications to Companies you dream to with even when vacancy may not be presently available.
5. Go out to where the works are and make some personal investigations.
6. If you don't mind you may take up a temporary appointment just to proof that you are more efficient in your own specific area.

I wish you success

The best way to find a job is NETWORKING.

Decide what kind of job you would like to do. Ask all your friends, relatives, former co-workers and class mates if they know of any openings in that field.

Check out the Yellow Pages or directory for companies that hire employees in that field. Research the companies on the internet to determine if you want to work there.

Call them and do your best to get direct contact with the person who does the hiring. Ask them when it would be convenient for you to come in over the next 2 weeks for an interview. Repeat these steps until you get a job.

Good Luck

According to "What Color Is Your Rainbow?", the number one way to find a good job is through family and friends. If you know someone in the field you want to work in, maybe they can assist you.
Yes, there are so many ways to search for a job; online, employment agencies (public and private), trade journals; friends, relatives. The best bet is to cover them all.
Most of the jobs I had I just walked in and applied. Employers are like everyone else: some prefer some qualities, some other qualities. When applying for Government type jobs, and large institutions, often a person will not hear until the closing date, even if they want to hire that person, so be patient.
Good luck.

The Sunday newspaper usually has all the new jobs. If you live in a place where there is a free, local weekly paper, it should also have jobs. You can also go to employment agencies and take their tests (sometimes they'll train you in something better), and putting your resume online doesn't hurt (Career Builders, Jobs.com, Monster.com, etc.).

The last job I had was because I saw a 'help wanted' sign in their window--check out your local businesses, and the mall. Also, let friends and former co-workers know that you are looking for a job--often word-of-mouth is your key into a new job.

Good luck.

Networking is the best way to find your job. That's how I got the job I am having right now. I talked to everyone I know and barely know and shamlessly asking for any leads to jobs I want to do. People who work in the company you want to work for can be so helpful, so don't just send out your resume and hope you'll get an interview.

I've got my present job by going directly to the company's web site and applying for a job listed at their site. But most of the jobs I've gotten have been through referrals from acquaintances. The more people you tell what you want to do, the more people there will be that can tell you about a job they're heard open up. Tell everyone you know what kind of job you're interested in: family, friends, former co-workers, your church, your neighbors, members of groups you belong to, etc. I've also visited college employment posting boards and visited college employment web sites as well. I've done informational interviews to find out more about the field I'm interested in, and to find out if they knew of job openings at other companies, not their company.

Good luck!
