Actual large-scale minting of quarter dollar coins begins. Quarter dollars are made of silver. The obverse ('heads side') shows a bust of "Lady Liberty" facing to the right. For this reason, US quarters up to 1838 are termed "Bust Quarters." The reverse ('tails side') shows an eagle that many accuse of looking like a pigeon. The design lasts only a year, and only 6,146 quarters are made.
Hope this answers it sorry if not.

It is not the statue of liberty but a standing liberty. This quarter is called the standing liberty type and was minted from 1916-1930. The dates minted before 1925 had the date raised to high and it wore off quickly. From 1925-1930 the date was recessed, so most of them have a date even if it may be worn. These quarters are quite beautiful in high circulated grades and in mint state. They have a small collector base, but a very dedicated one. The head of liberty did not strike up well and the top coins to find are the mint state ones with what is called full head. They sell for lots of money. Hope this answers your question.

If it is a Standing Liberty (which has a shield covering her left arm and she is looking to the left)...its not the statue of Liberty....It was produced between 1916-1930

If it is a Seated Liberty where she is sitting on top of a shield and a small flag in her hand and looking to the right...that coin was produced between 1838- 1891.
