We are getting closer. We just discovered a small rocky planet that has liquid water on it. 15 years ago, we didn't know about ANY planets outside the solar system. One difference is that it orbits it's sun ever 2 weeks, so it's not exactly like the Earth, but it's the closet we've found yet. Don't plan on finding one we can live on anytime soo though. Too far away.

In April astronomers discovered a planet that is the same size as earth and is a good distance from the sun.
It is thought that this planet could support life such as on earth. the problems would be if it wass like venus, which is uninhabitable. We will not know until we send probes.. which will take about 200 years to travel there and get message back (the planet is 50 light years away).

Most of the planets so far have been gas giants because these are easy to see. But one small planet has been found on a dwarf sun that looks about right. But today there is not enough power to see if it can support life.

No two planets are identical. Oh wait, we're building a giant copy machine. Just wait a few more _____ and we'll generate that copy for you.

Not in our solar system, and it's a little hard exploring others.
But the chances are pretty high, don't you think?

They think they have found one in another galaxy, but it is so far away we'd almost never get there.
