Have any of you heard the term head banger?

Well suddenly it is a really bad thing in my school to be a head banger. and well the preps are calling me a head banger but the thing i don't understand is when we did a class project on stereotyping they said that head bangers listen to retarded music. My friends and i only listen to stuff on the radio. I thought everyone did that? So whats the deal?

ya but the thing is that hardly any of us listen to heavy metal we listen to things liek nickleback and hinder thats not heavy (is it???)

The term "headbanger" was coined on Led Zeppelin's first US tour in 1968. During a show at the Boston Tea Party, audience members in the first row were banging their heads against the stage in rhythm with the music. Lemmy from Motörhead said in an interview on the documentary The Decline of Western Civilization II: The Metal Years, that the term "Headbanger" may have originated in the bands name, as in "Motorheadbanger", although this is most likely untrue.
