My question is or questions are... what can I do to make my time go by faster? This is my first pregnancy and I just know that I am going to be late. I don't feel any different than prior to pregnancy, I mean I havve a big belly and I feel her move regularly. But I just hear so many stories about having a "hard" or "rough" pregnancy. I just don't understand how I am supposed to feel, and they say to count your contractions? How do I know what a contraction is? I am just so clueless about everything. Please don't write back anything mean about me not knowing much. I am emotional and I know that some ppl on here can be VERY mean! Thanks :) xoxo

Walk, have sex, go for a bumpy ride in your car. Read a book. As for the contractions, they feel like someone has your hair and pulls very slowly and then yanks and pulls for about 5-10 seconds and lets go. The timing is very different for each type. But if you are clawing someone to death, than go to the hospital and have the baby. Try getting someone to hold your belly on the left and right and do a washing machine imiation on it. in a up and down movement. This could cause and stop contractions. Rocking as you stand helps. Oh and try lamaze classes, they are fun. You learn alot, and could even bare witness to a birth there.

hi at 38 wks myself i hope to help. well 2 weeks ago i had contractions b/c i began 2 tidy up for baby and worked a bit hard. its a tightening feeling in ur belly u should be able to know it. my belly feels like a basketball it gets very hard sometimes VERY hard. then it relaxes the uterus is a muscle so it works like that. i didnt have a rough preg myself. ok so after those irregular contractions at my dr visit i was 2cm dilated. meaning the contraction opened my cervix just a bit. since then i have lost my mucous plug...it looks just like a little mucous when u wipe or go 2 the bathroom. this doesnt mean labor is begininng u can lose the plug and not go in for a while still. so what u should look for is, the tightening which is contractions, or a menstrual cramp feeling which is the thinning of the cervix. the mucous plug which is just what it says. u will know when something happens it will be out of the norm for u especially since its been easy. im 38 wks and anxious myself dont worry baby will be here b4 u know and u will remember this quiet time as u were impatient! good luck !

Well one of the ways you can make your wait go faster is to pack your bags for the hospital, make sure the nusrey is all set up, clean, cean , clean, cause you wont have time to once the baby arrives. To count your contactions, you get a stop watch and onnce the contarction starts start the stop watch, when the contarton is ove stop the stop watch, this of course will tell yo how long it was, write it down, then when the next one starts do it agian, and see howw long it was from the last one you had, this will give you good practice for whe they are getting closer. Don't listen to the hard or rough stories cause your body is different than theirs, labor is labor and you will handle your own way when you are there, everyone handles pain differently, so everyone elses stories are just that. Oh and walk a lot cause that will help when you are in labor.

PLEASE trust me mommy you WILL know a contraction. Example imagine someone repeated kicking you in teh stomach..or menstrual cramps times 30..I mean it hurts and it is not pretty ..but AS SOON AS U SEE THE BABY YOU TOTALLY FORGET AND IT WAS ALL WORTH IT....just be patient and be ready for anything. thats the only advice that i can give..thats the only advice that most can give...let me tell u abt my pregnancy...with my 1st born it was natural..so the pain was crazy!!! example if they measuure contractions by numbers on a scale of 1-100 mine were like 213 EVERY TIME...it hurt like hell..but dont be scared and dont scream (i know easier said than done) when u scream it contracts your lower abdomin more and make a hard labor..just grit those teeth, clamp down, and push!!! Be happy, love your baby and again BE READY!!!! giving birth is as close to death a woman could be...many woman have done it before you and many after you so go with the flow and enjoy this time..you could walk, DONT CLIMB STAIRS it could cause you to rip and thats not good...but a mans semen is almost formulated like the drug pitocin..which helps open ur cervix...so have sex...it doesnt hav eto be back breaking the best sex ever...its just to help u along..if you have any more questions you can email me personally

hey dont worry im same and this is my second. i feel like i dont know anything even though ive been through it all before every twing im thinking my little one is coming and i have only 11 days till my due date. i always remember through both pregnancies worrying and thinking of everything ive been told about going into labour and even now i dont think ill notice the signs if i do. but trust me you kinda just know its the real deal your body lets ya know its the wonder of us being women thats what makes us great lol. as for timing contractions i never did and i was one week overdue with my first i just waited till i really would feel safe in a hospital so i rang the midwife but be warned they will tell ya to go for a walk take a bath e.t.c. before they suggest you going in i tried some but to be honest i lied in end because i wanted the safety of the hospital. i was still in labour for another 11 hours after that but i felt safe just incase he came try and read the books they have given you get background on the facts and everything else will come naturally good luck and hope all goes wellxxx

How to make the time go faster? Well, do you have everything done? Diaper station ready to go? All the clothes and washcloths washed? Do you have a plan as to breastfeeding, pumping, bottles, etc?

Post up a list of emergency contacts on your fridge, including who to call for help with lactation consultant, advice nurse, pediatrician's office, etc.

Set up a station for yourself on the couch with a snack basket and bottled water, pillows and blanket, tylenol or motrin and the phone, and tv remote!

You will know when you feel a contraction. Holy cow. For me, though, it started with horrible back pains. But I think back labor is rare.

Good luck, sweetie! Practice your breathing exercises, and try to get as much sleep as you can now.

You might even want to prep the envelopes for the birth announcements now. I ordered birth announcements but never sent them out because once the baby arrived, I was too busy to address all the envelopes!!!

First, it is sooooo common to be extremely anxious for you baby to arrive, especially when you are this close to the big day!!! When I was 36 weeks, I was at my doctor each week begging for him to induce me because I couldn't wait any longer. He finally did when I was 38 weeks, and then three hours later my little bundle of joy was in my arms!!! Keep yourself occupied by getting out and about, because believe me...you'll be stuck indoors for the next month or so caring for your new daughter...so be sure to get all your shopping and decorating done now. Another nice thing to do is to go to the spa or salon and treat yourself to a new haircut or pedicure or facial. It will make you feel very relaxed and refreshed.
Onto your question about knowing when you are having a contraction...believe me, you will just know how it feels when it comes. It will feel like really strong cramps, and they will be regular, like every 5 to 10 minutes apart, lasting about 45 seconds. When you finally do feel regular contractions, be sure to time them so you know when to go to the hospital. They should be 3 to 4 minutes apart, and lasting 30 to 45 seconds. Be sure not to go too soon, because they will just send you home and tell you to wait.
Now, to speed things up a bit, walking definately helps get the contractions going. I walked up and down the stairs the day my baby came, and he came quickly and effortlessly...so gravity really does help bring a baby to the world!
Best of luck to ya and your little one!

I promise you will know contractions when you feel them. Its hard to understand because I heard this my first pregnancy and I would feel something and think it was a contraction,......Then I had contractions and you know. Anyway once you feel your stomach tighten. (its sort of like your sucking in your abs, without doing it.) If its real labor it will happen consecutivley and every 5 min when you are suppose to go to the hospital, you will know....I would say to make time go by keep yourself busy, your close enough to being full term go for walks, do yoga, start a scrap book. GOod luck and congrats

I had lots of crampy period type pains from 36 weeks onwards and a few times thought I was going into labour. But when it really starts you will know it because it completely takes over your whole body!
As for making the time go quickly...I was SO bored for weeks. Cook meals for the freezer - it really helps in those early days to have food sorted out.
It's a boring time, but you forget all about it when baby arrives. Rest while you can!
And better a late baby than an early one. They feed better!

hi i'm no meanie...advice to get an easier labour(they are never easy)...cut down on sugary foods stuff like cakes and biscuits are bad for you anyway but they are also known to 'clog' up your cervix basically making it harder for the baby to pass thru....also keep moving @DO NOT LAY ON THE BED IN LABOUR 'no matter how much it hurts...and when you feel that sting(you'll understand when its happening and remember)just think i'm nearly there...in minutesw youll see your beautiful child...as far as knowing when labour is actually here...well as everyone has probably said...you will know!you'll know contractions by pains in your lower back and if you put your hand on your tummy it will feel all tight and hard and when thuis is happening regularly...then its started...these will get closer together and as labour progrsses they will last longer and then when they are five minutes apart...call that hospital and away you go...
