It seems like that would mean a few steps backwards.

Didn't we already settle this issue when we declared our independence from England several centuries ago? No, the USA should not adopt Canada's Democratic System, because it is not democratic. Canada is still basically a possession of the Queen's. Do I want that? No! Our system here in America isn't broken, it just needs oiling in a few spots.

i wish we could take look at the good, and effective and positive points of other countries, and see how they run it, not just Canada.
then add them in to our policy's, for the good of our country.
from the beginning we have added so many amendment's to our Constitution in order to have
better and safer country.
well if other countries offer better solutions,or better policy's for their own population and most of them are happy why
not us.
when we know certain things, certain laws, certain policies are working for other countries why not us.
so far all ever we have done is to waist our taxpayers money for the things that have no meaning.
one example, the city that i live for the last 8 years on one of the main street, the city had dig in and out the same area, over and over for the last 8 years and again they are digging the same area this year, now what i have saw is either there are humongous pips, cables, and stuff.
now each time they build something and a year after they re dig the same place.
the point i am trying to make is our states and cites
waisted so much on unnecessary stuff, when i try to think about it my head spins.

Not exactly like them, but I think it'd be a good idea for america to 'shop around' and look at other countries good ideas on government. Like australia has a most-least voting style, where you put candidates you like or don't like in order. Doing something like that could have tipped the last presidential election to the democrats. And I think free healthcare, with private hospitals for the rich, would be pretty good. I don't see why people knock Canada while our elderly are getting screwed in health care b/c the benefits are getting stripped.

No. What the US really needs is a third party, moderate to both Democrats and Republicans to allow those Americans who aren't on polarized to have a voice. With the current 2 party system, the US is basically walking the path to the extremes as parties retaliate for spite instead of what is best for the nation.

Canada's democratic system is based on the British system as Canada is a common wealth country .
Wow thier is too many social issues in the states to address that all goes back to it's history ...so I highly doubt it would fix it .

Are you nuts?
Our whole upper house of parliament up here is appointed by the government at the time a vacancy comes up. We have no recall or citizen initative mechanisms (except in one province). Every MP is elected in a "first-past-the-post" system with absolutely zero run off elections. Our ridings are determined on a "rep-by-pop" basis that is regularly manipulated to keep smaller provinces over represented in the House. How democratic is that?
That said, there is a lot of value to the system we call "responsible government" where the executive must hold the confidence of the legislature to maintain power. The Canadian system would never allow a situation like what is going on in the US right now.
My vote is we start taking lessons from the nations of continental Europe who took what they liked about both our systems and made their own models. They're not perfect either, but I'd say they're miles ahead of either of our states here in North America.

Why on earth should the greatest nation that has ever been adopt things from other nations? I think we should adopt a variety of little things that can improve our nation, but not something like that. Other nations would do good to follow our example of how we started out as a nation.

HELL NO!!!!
The healthcare system in Canada sucks! The taxes are FAR, FAR higher in Canada than in the USA and it is getting worse by the day!
Canada does not ofer the same freedoms as the USA (supposedly) protects.
For instance
1. It is against the FEDERAL Canadian law for a minister to speak out against homosexuality from the pulpit on Sunday morning (or any other time)
Canada harbors criminalsand protects them from extradition, if that criminal could possibly face the death penalty (WOW how nice a country that attracts and then protects the worste of humanity!)
YEAH, we need THAT in the USA!
NOT!!!

Our country the United States of America, was founded on the foundation of God and the Bible as stated in all of the writtings of our founders no other political system will do. That is why we are a great nation when we forget that then we lose our greatness.

I;m Canadian and I don't think the US should adopt our system. Our system doesn't really work as well as it could. The first past the post winner means that most of the time the person that becomes an MP isn't the one that the majority voted for.
By the way Cav.....F%&K YOU!!!
