It's important to me, but there are times when I look away because I'm either afraid of the person I'm speaking to or because I'm thinking about what they're saying. It's always been easier for me to listen to someone while I'm looking away. When I'm speaking, however, I try my best to exude confidence in what I'm saying and look a person in the eye. If someone's not looking me in the eye, I assume that they're either shy or just plain lying, but I also have trust issues because of some of the people I've known, so that may affect my thought process a little bit.

I always look the person I'm speaking to in the eye. I think it shows a sign of sincerety and honesty.

Eye contact is a must - if someone is talking to me and not looking at me they appear either uninterested or shady.

Eye contact is essential for open communication. Someone who chooses to avert their eyes make me wonder if they're being honest, and I usually believe they are not.
