Do you believe in them? I do. I believe with all my heart. The oceans are too big and too wide and too deep for nothing magical to be living in it.

My little sister says if mermaids existed, they would not be very pretty looking because books and movies romanticize them, but I like to think otherwise.

Thats beatiful that you beleive in fantasys and now how to think beyond but girl, Sooner or later it wont look good. Once i beleived in mermaids, my heart was crushed by others. I felt very hurt when my mom said" Mermaids aren't real." But it gave me comfort when she said "But its great your still young and creative." You should inform your mom about it. She won't make you feel bad.

I had a conversation with someone about yowie's (big foot)

Seeing as we know NOTHING about them, what's to say they can't run at the speed of light!? - which is why they haven't been seen. Just because nothing we know of can run that fast, doesn't mean its possible. So when you hear a rustling in the bush and turn around and nothings there, he could have ran past.

Same with mermaids, they might live so far down on the ocean floor that we've never seen them, do you know how many species of fish are down there that we dont know of? So why can't they be one? And every time we find a new one they have something cool about them we've never seen in another fish.

I think its awesome you believe in mermaids.

(but things really deep in the ocean are never pretty. Have you seen documentaries and the type of fish that are down there, they're freaky)

Errrr...this sails into Tooth Fairy land here, but mermaids do exist, kinda... Sailors coming from Europe thought that the faint outlines of manatees underwater were a kind of half person/half fish, and some of them must be women. That's where the legend came from. Manatees are kinda cute, but not in a girl-cute kind of way. More like a cow is cute.

That said, the ocean is too big for strange and amazing things not to exist in it, and some of them really seem to have magical powers like glowing in the dark and changing colours.

well i agree with you that they might exist... but they probablly won't have magical abilities, or be beatiful.... and i'm not saying that i believe in them but yes the ocean is so immense we haven't mapped it all out, we only assume some places just have water... as for the beauty part, they will probably have to have gills on them, long unruly hair, and in my opinion probably carnivorous... and i dont' think they will live in huge undersea palaces like Atlantis...

If they ever existed than most likely the Japanese have already caught and eaten most or all of them. I think this story is fishy anyway and just some myth created by love starved, drunken and perverted fishermen.

Yeah, they're real... but not in the way you're thinking. It turns out the fish part is on the top and the lady part is on the bottom. It's not a pretty sight.

I think if they did exist. They wouldn't all look gorgeous. I'm a skeptic.
