how do you know you have lost your plug? what is your typical time frame after you lose your plug before contractions start? i am 38 weeks tomorrow and miserable :*(

Some women don't even notice it. I sure did. I went to wipe and it looked like snot with a tint of blood. You can loose it at anytime. After a lot of people telling me they lost it weeks or even a couple of months before giving birth, I ended up loosing mine the morning I gave birth (I had her that night). I also had contractions AT LEAST 24 hours before I lost my plug. I went to the hospital due to contractions one morning, was sent home, and went back the next morning after the mucus plug and increase in contrations. It varies from woman to woman. Good luck, and you're almost there. =)

this is also my 38th wk. I began losing it last friday and have seen a bit each day. today it was noticeably more and a bit of the bloody show they tell u about. Im 2 cm already and have been since b4 i lost it. Im also waiting too it feels like an eternity but i know i will yearn for the free time soon!! but yea i had contractions that dilated me before the plug came out so its not guaranteed. my friend lost hers but was overdue theres no definite answer.

You will find the mucus plug in the toilet or on the toilet paper probably.
It looks like a chunk of thick snot.
Losing your plug is one of the first signs of labor, good luck!
Sometimes it comes out after the contractions start. It shouldn't be long, talk to your doctor or nurse.

Well, I knew I lost mine because it was like a big brownish, yellow glob. Then, I started leaking amniotic fluid.
But some people either never notice that they lost it, or don't lose it until after they go into labor.
I was 35 weeks along. That was on a Monday, and I think I went into labor the next day.

Your mucous plug lokos like a ball of snot. It's not quite appealing, but not every woman loses one. With my daughter I lost my mucous plug and then my water broke in a couple of hours. Good Luck!

With my first daughter I lost my plug 2 months before they finally induced. And with my 2nd never did until they induced and broke my water.

Oh you'll know. It's like a bloddy kinda slimy hunk. I went into labor 2 days after I lost mine.
