Like one of the above posters indicated, this is not something new, this has been going on for decades.
I even had a recruiter for their company try to pressure me into doing it for a summer while in college because another scam is to get college students to do it also to help pay for their schooling so it sounds much more legit (many of the other potential recruits were not college students).
It is a case of where the buyer needs to beware and make informed choices; many of the magazines are 2-3 times actual subscription costs and then they also charge a "handling fee" that is $5 or more or each order.
If you want to get the word out, a good place would be to start with the talk shows, like Dr. Keith Ablow, Montel Williams, etc. and see if they would be interested in airing a segment about this setup.

Contact the attorney general of the state where you live. This scam has been going on since I went to college in the late '60's to early '70's.

Travel around? Live like they want? Shame on them! That must be immoral or something! Why they're no better than gypsies!
***** The Above Is Sarcasm, Not To Be Taken Literally ******
Are you seriously thinking I'd believe a 26 year old who came to my door and tried to tell me he was raising funds for a school trip? Are you seriously thinking I wouldn't call to verify the offer before giving them money? You need to live in a bigger world, friend.

I you answer the door bell, tell them to give you written info data about their cause or publications, get names and phone numbers, then tell them you want to have some time to decide, then call the police.

Sounds like an isolated group of people, as long as people get what they order then there isn't really any crime although the lies aren't cool I don't know what crime that would be if at all.
