To Love God with all your Heart, Mind and Body.
Essence
(Mat 22:37) Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
(Amo 5:15) Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.
(Jos 23:11) Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that ye love the LORD your God.

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

In the most basic sense, the meaning and purpose of our lives is to procreate to continue the cycle of life on earth.
But if you are looking for a less mundane calling, I live by the words of Albert Camus. If you keep searching for your purpose, you will never find it. By concentrating on living your life as best as you can, along the way you will realize that you have found the meaning for your life.

Part of the meaning of life is that we know it ends.
So you have [holding hands a foot apart] this much time to figure out who you are and what you are going to do.
You have to learn to be what you are, and simultaneously become more than you are. Belong to a group. Learn to see the world through someone else's eyes.
Find yourself and find your place.
Which is why no one can *tell* you the meaning of life.
The point is to find your own.

interesting question..
i would say..
m=NOTHING=m (it is defined by you, and only you.)
because of the complexity of life..
it is you who decides if you want to give it a meaning or not.
Why do you think you have to make decisions
about how your life would be?
or why do you take chances to be affiliated with the
people around you? (is it because you want your life to have some kind of a point, a direction, a meaning?)
ofcourse, as a Christian.. i might consider the point that the meaning of life is on God's hand (or probably HIM) too.

You will only know when you start to seek it. By asking it without meaning it, online, you will never know. You will not know the meaning of life until you have lived it.

"what is the meaning of life ?"
Simply, it 'is' the quest for such an answer.
Not the answer itself, but the journey.
