I was about 3 months when I started pricing daycare for my first and I was in shock! It was cheaper for me to stay at home than to pay what the daycare centers were offering in my area. Sometimes you can find a good inhome care person through word of mouth. Ask your friends who have kids where they go and what they pay. The sooner you know your personal options the easier it is to decide what to do.

I didn't start looking until about a month before I had to go back to work. Technically, I put myself on the waiting list for the one in my building the day I found out I was pregnant, but I've been on that waiting list for 2 years now.
You should start calling around and visiting them as soon as possible! It's never too soon to start looking and asking around. It can take a long time to get into a good one! I'm just lucky that the one she ended up going to is so close to my work and is also very good!

I am 4 1/2 months and just started calling around and looking. I've gone to a couple of places to check them out....just to get a feel for them...I know I have a ways to go but seeing how I am going back to work 2 weeks after my baby is born...it's never to early to start looking for the safest place for your child.

I didn't, I left my job on my due date. I was lucky enough to make it work, it was hard and we sacrificed, but I know some people can't afford to stay at home with their child. I would start looking by month 7 if I were you, just so you are set, you have time to check references and you won't be scrambling around during the busy last month of your pregnancy. Good Luck.
